Removed unused footage from used clips

Hi,

I've some very large files. I'm only using small clips from them in PE2019. Is there a way to only keep the segment used and discard the footage that's not used to reduce the filesize?

If not, is there some way to trim / edit a video in PE2019 prior to importing it to the library?

Cheers

Drop the clip in the timeline.

Set in and outpoint over section you want to keep.

Export.

Other solution is to use: Smart Render from Pegasys.

Brilliant!

I copied a raw footage clip. Trimmed it with the drag edges method, then went to File / Export and Share.

I then used Devices / Custom / Advanced Settings and the option "Match Source" which changed all settings to match the raw footage. It created a Custom present. I entered a file name, destination and save. Done.

Now the .mp4 is a much smaller version of the original and same quality.

Thanks
