Switching between video feeds

I'm really, really new at this. A friend and I used two cameras to record a musical event from two angles. I'm making a movie out of it, and I want to use his audio for the most part because he had better equipment.  But at times I had a better angle visually, so I want to be able to switch back and forth from one video track to the other. And there are a few places where I'll want to use my audio, so I don't want to delete it entirely.

So: I have both feeds loaded in synch in my timeline -- his is video and audio 1,  mine is video and audio 2, and audio2 is muted with the controls at the left. Video2 shows in the editor by default unless I hide it.

I have two issues.

1.) Is there a way I can run both videos side by side in the editor, so that at any given moment I can see which video track looks better?

2.) The only way I can think of to switch from one video to the other is to make a combined cut across all the tracks at every point where I want to switch, and then for the segments where I want to use video1, I have to delete (not just hide) video2. For the segments where I want to use audio2, I have to delete audio1. Surely there's a better way? If I subsequently decide I want to move one of the cut points, how can I restore the deleted part of video 2?

It may not be easy, but I have mixed video and audio from three cameras in Premiere Elements.  Truth is I didn't know I wasn't supposed to.

The basics are that what ever is on top is what you see or hear.  If you want to hear audio 1, then you unlink the video and audio on 2.  Then delete the audio portion on 2.  The audio from one will play through.

The editing will be tedious, but it worked for me better than learning/buying other software.

Premiere Elements does not have a multicamera editor. So, unfortunately, there is no easy way to do what you're doing.

Bummer. Seems pretty basic, at least conceptually. I went to Adobe's chat support and asked the same question, and was told I need Premiere Pro for that at $19.95 a month.
