The importer reported a generic error

Hi there, I have just started to use Premiere elements and I have fallen at the first fence! My very first video I have tried to import (MP4) and I keep getting "The importer reported a generic error" I am using a Mac. Not a good first impression really 🤔

Any guidance greatly appreciated! Thank you 🙂
