When using a sequence I copied (one that has already been transcribed) - I can not retranscribe it. It gives the option, but nothing happens.

To duplicate, transcribe footage, copy sequence, replace footage with other stuff, try and retranscribe.

CUrrently im forced to export and retrascribe that.

Most recent beta build as of this ost, Build 56

The Text-based (source clips) and Captioning (sequence) transcripts complicate several things. I'm still trying to sort this out.

I've turned off Automatic transcribing of source footage so I know what has been done and when.

In build 56, I had a variety of transcriptions, and I could get none of them to retranscribe. The button is active, but it does nothing when clicked. But most of those transcriptions were done as source transcriptions and had been modified in various ways.

I've had a number of problems in the recent betas, and did update to Build 57 just now. I transcribed in the sequence (the "Captioning" option). I clicked on re-transcribe, it pops up the dialogue as expected.

I opened the source clip in the Source Monitor, and then switched to the Text Panel. It was already in the Transcript tab. I clicked on both "Show Source Monitor Transcript" and "Show Program Monitor transcript." Nothing changes. I switched back to the Source monitor, and then back to the Text Panel. It then showed "Transcribe Source." I transcribed. I clicked on the hamburger menu and picked Re-Transcribe. The "Create transcription for source media" dialogue pops up. I clicked the "Show Program Monitor transcript" and then Re-Transcribe. It shows the "Create transcription for source media" dialogue.

I clicked in the timeline, and then Re-Transcribe. The (correct) "Create transcript" dialogue pops up, with the choice to create Text-based on Captioning transcript.

I have previously suspected that the "Follow active monitor" check box and, when unchecked, the Source and Program Monitor options do not do what I expect. What works to get the sequence transcript active is clicking in the timeline with the Program Monitor selected, and for the Source clicking to the Source monitor with the Source Monitor selected, and then clicking back to the Text panel.

Whether the Re-Transcription was fixed in Build 57 or whether I just figured out how to select it, I don't know!

Edit: checking "Follow active monitor" did not used to work for me. Checking it now is working. Click on Source monitor and back to Text, the source transcript is active. Clicking in Timeline or Program Monitor, the sequence transcript is active.

I did not actually address your question. So I have now duplicated a sequence (right click, duplicate), edited (cut out a bunch), then selected retranscribe. The dialogue pops up (sequence style) and allows me to choose sequence. One time it did NOT show the regular progress indicator, but suddenly the new transcription appeared. So check the progress indicator.

In Build 57, all seems to be functioning correctly. But that may be because I am doing it right!

Just updated to build 57, and after a quick check it looks to be working now, thanks! of course I'd complain right before the fix comes out

Ain't it the truth!

But seriously, it is the Beta, and such reports help to ensure problems are solved. And you alerted me to the need to look at Re-transcribe, which I often ignore. That is what helped me get focused.
