Motion Tracker

Final Cut Pro 10.6, DaVinci Resolve 17, HitFilm Express, and Filmora X, all have proper and reliable motion tracking built in without ever opening a second program. The most expensive program, Premiere Pro, requires you to go to another program (After Effects) via the unreliable dynamic linking, just to do proper motion tracking. Motion Tracking shouldn't be an Afect Effects only thing. Its almost 2022 and we still dont have a reliable and proper  motion tracker in Premiere Pro whereas the competition all have motion tracking built in. Im speaking honestly here, but my US$52.99/mo ($636 a year) becomes harder and harder to justify each year with the competition offering so much more for less. Years ago, Adobe was the only reliable option so I didn't mind the premium. But now as we near 2022, and the rest of the competition has added so many AI tools and new features, even features that are missing in Premiere Pro, for the first time, im strongly considering migrating to Final Cut or DaVinci Resolve as many of my friends have already made the switch. Im not the only one who feels this way. Ive been using Adobe for over a decade but man is it frustrating seeing Final Cut, DaVinci, HitFilm, and Filmora customers gets cool new features added that Premiere Pro customers have been begging Adobe to add for years and still have not received. Does anyone else feel this way too? Has any one else have thoughts about changing to DaVincy, Final Cut Pro, or any other program?

I agree with you John, Adobe soft is expensive, out there some Apps become grow and grow with built in amazing feature like premiere pro feature.

Most of my friend also change their app to Filmora, they said most of feature in premiere pro are in that app. And becouse Premiere is so expensive. They said.

I'm not filmora user neither davinci or finalcut.

The price isnt the issue for me. Im happy to pay a premium for a premium product, if Adobe blow the competition out of the water, im happy to pay for that best of the  best, but Premiere Pro isn't the best of the best (we dont even have a reliable motion tracker). My concern is that the competition seems to be offering more value propositionm, more features, than Premiere Pro. Premiere Pro is not the most advance NLE anymore (Look at Davinci and Final Cut Pro). This is what happened to Canon. Canon used to be the go to company for cameras, I used to own all Canon cameras and lenses, but they got cocky, didn't innovate, gave us incremental updates, and Sony took advantage of that by innovating and offering great value. Now, Sony is the way to go for  video and photos (all my gear is now Sony). I really hope Adobe doesn't become the next Canon, but the more people I talk to, the more I hear similar concerns being discussed in regards to Premiere Pro updates and features. Let's see what new features get announced at Adobe Max.

Guessing adding Motion Tracking is not that difficult. Premiere Elements has it.

Hi Ann, i'm not sure posting a request to Adobe User Voice will get result. I'm not sure Leader developer will read it.

Eko,

First, Adobe runs by metrics. Half the company or more is actually producing the software and training for other mega-companies to build metrics of their user-base to determine what would be the most effective options for the company to use moving forward. Metrics ... always metrics.

The other half or less build the apps like Premiere Pro.

The Marketing & Experience (M&E) people up the line at Adobe are the controllers for what the app managers do. And those M&E people are total metrics folk. I've met and worked with some of them. It's ... a very different experience.

And the M&E people live and work by metrics such as the UserVoice system. In fact, as a user, that is the best way we can produce metrics slanted the direction we want things to go.

Past that, it's hardwired into the engineer's systems, so everything posted there goes through multiple engineer's inboxes. Yea, the engineers and supervisors will see things. And the M&E people get their collated lists with numbers. And the more we work that system, the better it works.

As an engineer told me at NAB a couple years ago ... you wouldn't believe some of the things up top of the U-V list for requests. He told me several ... oh ... wow ... um, there's SO many things more important than some of those!

So yes, do post over there on U-V. In fact, vote early and vote often.

Neil

The User Voice is monitored by Adobe Staff. These forums are not.

We're here too.

User Voice is a valuable input, but as Neil suggests, the team do make our own decisions. Otherwise, we would have ported PPro to Linux by now. šŸ˜‰

Eko, what would you like our development leaders to know?

Eko,

They get thousands of requests for what to do ... including the couple hundred I've sent along. I've actually had a couple of mine adopted ... but then I wasn't the only person pushing for them.

When you talk with them in person, there are quite a number of factors as to what get's developed. And the developers have some discretion but a lot of the control comes through managing decisions for time allotments made well up above them.

Neil
