Update: This feature was released with version v24.4 of Adobe's video products. If you have questions or comments, please post them in the main Premiere Pro forumThank you for your feedback during the beta!

Premiere Pro Beta now has Automatic Detection and Interpretation of iPhone ProRes Log Video.

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max have a new ProRes Log Video recording option. This allows iPhone users to record in a high quality, 10-bit format that retains the maximum amount of latitude and detail.

This professional video format on the iPhone is an exciting new development in the world of filmmaking. Adobe Premiere Pro is committed to not just supporting it via the existing LUT-based workflow, but also offering a dynamic, LUT-free automated solution using our color management system.

Simply enable Auto Detect Log Video Color Space and drop an iPhone ProRes Log original camera media clip into a Rec 709 timeline.

Lumetri Settings will show that the clip’s Media Color Space is set to “Apple Log/ Rec 2020” and the clip will have an automatic tone map applied using the “ByChannel (good for log video)” method.

There is no need to apply a LUT to the clip. Premiere Pro’s automated color management system will dynamically map the log video values to the Rec 709 or HLG/ PQ video color spaces, preserving the highlights and shadows of the clip.

If you prefer to use your own LUT with Apple Log footage, you can easily disable the auto detect log functionality or override the clip's color space to Rec 709. Either of these options will allow you to apply a LUT to transform your footage from log to the color space of your choice.

Thanks for this update. I do wonder though, why does it take so long to implement other log spaces? Why is AWG3/LogC3 and AWG4/LogC4 not in the list yet? And RWG/Log3G10? AdobeRGB? sRGB?
