Steps to reproduce:
1. Cut Multicam clip into a sequence (Source name 66-1)
2. Right click on clip in sequence, choose "Rename"
3. Type in new name for clip within sequence only (Timeline name 066_0010)
Result: Clip name in timeline still matches Source (66-1), but if right click and go back to "Rename" that information (066_0010) is still there. If I export an EDL of the renamed clip, the new name (066_0010) is what shows up in the EDL. Please note that "Show Source Clip Name and Label" is unchecked in the timeline settings.
Expected: Multicam clip name in sequence should be the new name that assigned in the "Rename" window.

Hi @a_leven - If you want the clip name in your EDL to match what you see in your sequence then in the EDL settings you need to uncheck the box "Use Source File Name" and that will allow you to see the renamed clip in your EDL from your sequence.
Also, We just released Premiere Pro 24.6 and if you are still interested in working in beta, we have updated that version to our next major release version 25!

Hey @jamieclarke I provided the EDL example to show that the name in the sequence is sticking, it just isn't showing up in the timeline. If the clip in the timeline is not multicam it behaves as it should.
Sadly, I am on a show using Productions with multiple users and updating at the moment is not possible.
Is this bug present in the 24.5 Public release?

Hi @a_leven - I see what you are saying. With Multicamera enabled the name is showing you the clip name inside the multicamera, if you right click on the multicamera clip > go to setting Multi-Camera > uncheck "Enable" then it will show your renamed multicamera clip, This is expected behavior.
If you would like to export an EDL with a revised name then you can right click on your multi camera clip in the project and select open in timeline, Then rename the clip. In your sequence you would then flatten the multi-camera clip before creating your EDL.

I would also recommend you either update to the release candidate of 24.5 which is build 57 or update to 24.6 which is the latest stable release.

I tried your method and it worked as it should, but as you know I then lose the ability to use that clip as a multicam. Thank you for your help, I will need to figure out another workflow.

It sounds like you are working with VFX shot names. In our Premiere Pro Best Practices guide check out Chapter 9 for VFX Turnovers that could give you some ideas. https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/long-form-episodic-best-practices.html

Hey @jamieclarke thank you, but again we aren't trying to get these ID's into an EDL; we have a workflow for that using markers. I simply gave the EDL example to show that the information I was entering in the "Rename" window was in fact being written to the clip in the timline, but it was not showing up in the timeline.
What we were hoping to do is duplicate a dailies clip in the timeline and rename the duplicate to the VFX shot ID so that we could eaisly reference the ID within the timeline until the shot has been submitted to editorial. We have the markers on the dailies clip with the shot ID, but sadly the marker overlay in the Program monitor is very difficult to read and we were hoping to find a workaround so we did not have to deal with the overlay feature. The workaround you provided disrupts the editing process so that is not an option to acheive our goal. We will most likely have to rely on the Marker overlay.
Thank you.

Hi @a_leven - You could also use "Simple Text" in the effects Panel. That will give you more custom options for positioning and size.

Yes we are exploring that as well. Thank you.
