Maybe there is a point to it but it seems counter productive and hiding everything seems like a time buster. Especially when some of those items in the menu don't have assigned short cuts. Was it done to help with screen real estate when workiong on ..smalls creens? Seems like you could just fix the dropdown instead of making it more difficult to do things. If its a catagory thing, well you have have seperaters and bold type to help that within the drop down menu api. so why has this been done?
Do people like it like this? I don't. I figured i would give my feedback oregardless.

Thanks for the feedback, we are listening to all of it with regards to the new menus. Working better on small screens is certainly part of the motivation, but not the only one. Even if the entire menu fits on your display, it's not a good experience to have to parse from top to bottom through sometimes 40 or 50 items. Plus, depending on where on screen you do a right click, the operating system may only draw part of the menu, forcing a scroll even if the whole menu fits. We're also trying to enforce a consistency between menus, where if a command is at the bottom of one menu it's also at the bottom of the other menu you find it in in a different panel. With these organized menus, you should always see the same, entire menu, no matter where on screen you right clicked or how big or small your screen is. We think that consistency can be a huge benefit.
Finally, today's existing menus are a barrier for new editors who might, for example, right click on a clip to see what they can do with it and are then met with a wall of words. Grouping the commands into submenus provides a clue as to what the actions in those submenus are for (example: "Video actions", "Audio actions", etc).
What's in Beta now is our attempt to improve the menus based on those above goals, and we're listening to feedback and making changes as people try them out and point out ways to improve them further.
