Question

Adobe Premiere Rush runs very slow on my high-end laptop. How do I fix this?

Hello,

I have an HP Omen 15 laptop with AMD Ryzen 5800H processor, RTX 3060 GPU and 32 GB RAM in dual-rank, dual-channel mode. The laptop has an SSD storage drive as well..

My laptop runs other Adobe apps quite smoothly, but when it comes to Adobe Premiere Pro, the app performs very slow and is laggy during editing and playing the edited video within the editor. If I navigate to another part of the video inside the editor, then it takes at least 2-4 seconds to respond. Sometimes, certain transitions also do not show or play, or the whole video playback in the editor hangs at the transition timing, but audio keeps on playing. The video starts playing after some seconds.

I am facing strange performance issues.

Another odd thing I noticed is that during export process, the CPU is not 100% utilized, although it runs at maximum frequency.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the app. I also cleared the cache. But it did not help.

How can I fix the performance issues? Do you have any tips for optimizing the video editing process in Adobe Premiere Rush?

Sorry, I could not find any editing options for the post. Please excuse my mistake- it is not Premiere Pro, it is Premiere Rush where I am facing the problems.

Hi there, thanks for all these details! I'm wondering what kind of footage you're editing in Rush. Some formats perform better than others. What do you use to record your clips?

Thanks for your reply. I used an MP4 file (an intro video created with After Effects) and a zoom meeting's video recording to merge them together, put in some transitions and optimize the audio. The intro video has a high bitrate but the Zoom meeting's recording has a low file size and bitrate.

The overall video length was aroud 15 minutes only. Indeed, I have edited longer videos (with adjustments) on Premiere Rush with faster experience than this. Can you please suggest what should I do?

May I know which video formats are best optimized for editing in Premiere Rush?
