Audio sounds like they inhaled helium

Hi, first time user. I did one video combining 4 interviews and everything worked great.

Second one, 4 of the 5 interviews I'm trying to consolidate all sound distorted.

Have previewed each in Quicktime and they seem fine.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Which device are you using?
What happens when you uncheck optimized clips? Go to View menu > Check or check "Use Optimised Clips"?
