Can't use external mic to create voiceovers with Samsung S23 Ultra phone.

When I go to the setting tab on the computer I can use whatever mic I want. But the app on the phone has no place to select use external mic. When I plug in the external mic on the phone the audio levels stay at red, clipping and nothing registers. As soon as I unplug the external mic fron the phone all audio functions normally.
