First Timer problem - Cannot add stacked titles?

Been an Adobe user for nearly 40 years, I remember the days of big boxes with multiple discs in!!

 

I am pretty expert in Photoshop, In Design and Illustrator to name a few. But have just today started to use Premier Rush Desktop for a Social Media video project and man! I am absolutely stumped with Rush and how it is the least intuitive software of Adobe Cloud.

 

I have a video in a 1080 x 1080 box brought into Rush. It's a video of a flower opening and whilst that video runs I want 8 titles or bullet points to list on the screen to the side of the flower.

 

Firstly, I can add a title from the Assets and rename what I want to appear as bullet one. I can add a second title and retype over to create another bullet which is positioned on screen underneath bullet 1.

 

That's where the first problem arises, any attempt to add another title bullet adds the title to the left of the last bullet in the timeline, so it can only run when the previous one finishes. I cannot move that title in the timeline to the top of the timeline so I can adjust when that starts and ends independantly. No amount of dragging allows for this.

 

With this flexibility of adding titles I can start each title when I want and then all fade in independantly and stay on screen till the video finishes.

 

I have searched all the web and communities and cannot find an answer to this.

 

Hopefully I have explained well enough and some kind person can tell me if I am asking to much of this software?

    I got your note. Which version of Rush is this? Did you use a motion graphics template? If so, which one? Hope we can help.

    Hi Kevin,

     

    Appreciate the reply. I am using the latest V2.9.0 (Build 14) on a Maxxed out Studio M2.

     

    I did not use a template, just set up my own 1080x1080 and added two elements, one the video and the other a logo. Then added a title from the Adobe assets, which I then tried to duplicate.

    Hi @pixeleleven,

    Thanks for the additional info. I think I am discovering your issue after trying a similar experiment. Is it possible that running into the limitation of the number of video tracks? You are limited to 4 video tracks.

     

     

     

     

    You might have to use a template that has the bullet build already set up for multiple bullets. I found a template containing four bullets. It's called "Four Bullet Slide." I doubled them up in the Timeline to stack up eight bullets. Hope the info helps.

    Hi Kevin, I appreciate the assistance and trying to replicate the issue. Yes, it seems we are only able to have a maximum of FOUR tracks, which in my mind cripples this program. I did get to a good place with the earlier idea I had of bringing in a PNG of the bullets. Although I am only able to add a fade effect to bring all in at once. After all this, I needed another title to come in last, but again it keeps adding it to the end of the whole video which is useless.

    Is there a way I can save this file over to Premiere Pro, at least the placements will be set up and perhaps PP will allow additional layers?

    Whilst I was waiting for any comments, I think I have found a solution.

     

    I have simply gone back to my trusty friend Photoshop and brought in a screengrab of the flower in position into a Photoshop 1080 x 1080 px doc. Then typed in the bullets and arranged them exactly where I want them, then saved just the text overlay as a PNG.

    Deleting my original Rush titles, I then just brought the PNG of the bullets in as an overlaying graphic. Add one of the fades and all looks good.

    It really does not make me want to take Rush further, it seems more 'Basic Toy' like, rather than a fully fledged video content piece of software. I know Premier Pro is fantastic and what I should have used, but that's an even bigger learning curve.

     

    But please leave a comment if my original problem is solvable in Rush.
