Jumpy/jittery playback

Hi there,

 

I have had on and off problems with jumpy playback. When I press play to watch the sequence back it just plays for one second and then jumps back about half a second and repeats. This makes it impossible to do any work. I have attached a video which shows the issue. Please, any help would be really appreciated. 

 

I have tried clearing the cache and this does not work.
