Lots of duplicate files suddenly appeared (and seem to be on cloud)

Hi. A few days ago, I opened Rush and suddenly, there are lots of duplicate files in my home screen. For each project I've created there are 20+ duplicate files (that has a cloud icon on it). My original project file is still there (with a computer icon). When I opened the duplicate files they are empty. All my projects are on my laptop as I believe Rush no longer offers cloud.

What has happened? I'm on a macbook Air, M1 chip 8GB.

What can I do, besides manually delete hundreds of files one by one.

Thanks.

Regards,

MC

Hello @MCChang,

Thanks for the message. This bug is a by-product of interaction with a file-sharing service, like iCloud or DropBox. It occurs when you point such a file backup system to Rush. You may need to disassociate this action and then remove these empty projects. Unfortunately, there is no "batch removal" function, so it may take some time to delete these one at a time. Sorry about all this! Likely, the bug is due to the team discontinuing support for file sync with Creative Cloud.

Let me know if the advice helps.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't changed any settings on my icloud or drop box. How do I check what backup system Rush is using on my macbook?

thanks,

Mongchee

Hey there, @MCChang,

I read your note. I hope I can help you.

Hi @Kevin-Monahan - I just went into Rush again.

It looks like the majority of my project files that I could see last week (that had a computer icon on it) are ALL GONE! 😞  For each file name, I still have 30+ duplicates (now all with the cloud icon), and empty. Once i click a file (they are empty), go back to home, and these empty files now have the computer icon but are still empty.

Wow, that's no good. Were these new projects or ones you made a long time ago? Crreative Cloud sync, which provided a few key services for Rush operations was canceled in February, 2024. Were you aware of that? Here's more info. If you did not download the files before that time, the projects are probably unrecoverable, as far as I know.

If you use a file sharing service like iCloud, it's possible that these empty project files are showing as duplicates, adding to the confusing situation. However, you say you are not using iCloud, DropBox, or GoogleDrive, right? That's a bit of a puzzle right there. You may need to work with our support team directly here. The chat pod is in the lower right. Ask for the "video queue." They can work with you directly. It is safe to allow them access to your computer for troubleshooting. Cheers.

I have 3 project files left with my video content (I had 30+ projects before). Even in these 3 project files, Rush cannot find the audio file (I used the audio tracks in Rush).

It sounds like you made these three projects more recently, but you need to reconnect the audio files for the royalty free music tracks, right? Did you try right-clicking the audio clip and choosing "Find and Connect?" I hope you can reconnect audio and get going again on these projects using that technique.

I tried to turn off wifi to find the local files. When I'm not connected to WIFI, only the few files (with computer icons) are showing. So which cloud is RUSH pulling my files from, and how do i check or change that?

Connection to the internet is inconsequenctial now that sync has been removed. Any warnings you see along those lins can be ignored. Sorry about that! As far as I can tell, Rush is referencing the files on your computer not the Creative Cloud.

I hope we can help you soon. Sorry for the hassle.

Thanks,
Kevin

MC>> No, I created 10 of these projects recently (in the last month), and ironically they are now all lost. I didn't use CC sync  previously, so that ending should not affect me?

After browsing through all the duplicates, it looks like I lost 20-30 projects (all the recent ones plus a random selection of previous projects).

MC>> I thought Rush doesn't support cloud anymore, so how can I have cloud files in my Rush? (I captured a video so you can see what I'm talking about).

MC>> No, I created 10 projects recently (in the last month). I did try "Find and Connect", but these are files which were from the Rush Library, not my personal audio files. And no, they cannot be found now, but it's okay it's not a big issue.

MC>> I totally understand what you're saying, but what I'm seeing is very contradictory. See my video attached.
