Hello,
Forgive my frustration but I have been searching and searching for at least six hours, and cannot find a solution of any kind fo a question/situation that seems to be a very common pain point for Rush users but yet it seems there is no clear solution that is possible to find.
I am upgrading my computer. I will be using Rush on the new computer.
I have projects saved locally on my OLD computer in Rush, I do not and have never cloud syncled them (I understand that feature was phased out anyway?)
I want to move/copy my Rush projects from the OLD computer, to the NEW computer.
Does anyone have any insight as to how I can do this? There are some other posts referencing flat file locations where some "database" is supposed to be - for example the "Managed Media" which is empty, and the "appdata/roaming/adobe/team projects local hub" but the files there total less than 8kb which can't possibly be what I need.
The chat agent (once I finally was able to get a session with one) told me that with cloud sync no longer available, that there is no way to move Rush projects from one PC to another. I refuse to accept or believe this - this is a rudamentary point of functionality that has been common in every software application on the planet since the 1980s. Again, based on other questions I've seen, this seems like an incredibly common pain point for the community and it absolutely defies belief that Adobe has not resolved this for us. I mean, we PAY for Rush....
Clearly, the flat files exist SOMEWHERE on my local storage since I wasn't even using cloud sync anyways.
Where are the files?
What are the files?
I FOUND THE SOLUTION.
Adobe is lying to us when they say this is not possible.
I used a software debugging tool that I have access to from my dayjob to monitor which folders the Rush executable was working in at any particular moment, and backtraded where it stores its data.
The Adobe Rush projects database is stored in:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe , specifically in the "Common" folder.

Hello @Tim337612570b5w,
Thanks for the note.

There is no way to do this. I would complete the projects on the old computer. Install the application for new projects on the new computer.
The only other option is to move the project over to Premiere Pro on the old computer and save the project file to a portable drive or the like, install the project file, and finish the projects on the new computer using Premiere Pro.

I've not ever seen anyone that was able to move the files from computer to computer, just from mobile to computer. Since Creative Cloud sync is no longer available, there is no option for moving project data from one computer to another.

The agent is correct. That used to be the only way, but it is no longer available. As a fellow Rush user, this also frustrates me.

Few, if any, apps have ever been architected like Rush. It's unique. It was designed specifically for all data handling to rely on cloud sync. Sorry if this is not believable, but my colleagues and I in support are being straight with you.

It is a top issue, definitely. This specific issue can't be easily resolved without reinstating sync. Otherwise this would require re-architecting the app. Rush still functions very well as an editing app, but some workflows are difficult or impossible in regards to moving projects from device to device, sorry to say. I will inform the product team about your frustration.

According to Rush engineering, there are no physical files that could be used to restore your project to another computer. I've not yet heard of anyone successfully doing so. If there were, I'd definitely let you know.
I outlined as to what I would do. Finish up the old projects on the computer where the projects were started. I hope that is possible. Sorry again for the frustration on this.
Thanks,
Kevin

This is beyond unacceptable.
My workflow with Rush is to use various templates I've created, which I then "duplicate" to edit and produce finished videos. Re-creating all those, or migrating the work into another piece of software, is going to take ... weeks? ... an absolutely absurd amount of time.
I'm an experienced IT professional with some software coding experience under my belt, and to tell me that there is no possible way - even just copying over the entire installation manually or something - to move projects to a new computer simply defies belief. Its either mind-blowing incompetence somewhere at Adobe (did nobody ever think a user might upgrade their computer when Rush was being designed? Seriously?), or a situation where you need to warn users .... and I mean, a pop-up with huge bold red font, not a sentence buried in an EULA or something, when they sign up for Rush that their projects are gone forever if they use a different computer and are locked permanently by magic on the hardware they install to.

The Adobe Rush projects database is stored in:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe , specifically in the "Common" folder.
( C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common )
If you copy the Common folder to the same location on another computer, it will copy over all your Rush projects. There ARE a couple of very minor caveats.
First, depending how much stuff from Adobe you have, this folder might be quite large - mine was almost 20gb and took a long time to copy over. Second, the first time you launch Rush on the new computer you'll still get messages asking you to create a new project and do basic setup as-if you have nothing. DO NOT WORRY. Just follow those new-setup steps, then quit Rush. When you go back in (after copying the Common folder) all your old projects will be there.
Its clunky - but IT WORKS.
Until, and unless, Adobe gives us some official solution to this problem (such as a really basic "export/import my projects to/from an archive file" function ....) this will probably remain the only way to accomplish moving Rush projects from one computer to another.

Hello @Tim337612570b5w,
Thanks for the reply.
I FOUND THE SOLUTION.
I used a software debugging tool that I have access to from my dayjob to monitor which folders the Rush executable was working in at any particular moment, and backtraded where it stores its data.
Thank you for doing that.
For Windows: the Adobe Rush projects database is stored in:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe , specifically in the "Common" folder.
( C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common )
I appreciate that. I am unsure if this workaround would be sanctioned by the product team, however. I will need to ask them.

OK. Thanks for the information.

That is the same behavior one gets when you reset Preferences. True, it is diorienting the first time you are faced with the "Welcome To Rush" experience (when you're thinking, "where are my projects").
Its clunky - but IT WORKS.
Thanks for your workaround. If others want to try this, do so at your own risk. It's not supported to root around in these folders.
Unless Adobe gives us some official solution to this problem this will probably remain the only way to accomplish moving Rush projects from one computer to another.
Right, thank you. What you propose is a known feature request. I will let the team know about it again and will continue to advocate for such a feature. It would be great to have.
Adobe is lying to us when they say this is not possible.
I apologize, but I was only repeating information that I was told by the product team many times. I was not intentionally witholding information from you, nor was the team. Sorry for the frustration.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi,
I did hear from engineering and they do not recommend moving the entire Common folder from computer to another as it has ramifications important to running Creative Cloud applications and services. Do anything like this at your own risk. Cheers.
Thanks,
Kevin

Did not work.

Sorry. The team does not recommend moving the entire Common folder. It can have adverse effects on your system and Adobe apps. Is it possible to move your projects to Premiere Pro and finish them out there? We can help you with that method.
Cheers,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,
Now that sync has been disabled, is this the future of how Adobe Rush will function? As in work off one device and then "open in" Premiere Pro to finish the job and save as a hard file? My fear as a user is that with the sync now gone, Adobe may discontinue Rush in the near future and then your "projects" are gone unless you get them saved as Premiere Pro hard files...
Do you have any intel on the future of Rush please?

Hey there, @Charlotte32083078at7n,

Sorry to be unclear on the future of mobile editing, Rush, sync, and other such issues. These are more questions for the product management team. I am in support and not even part any of the digital video product teams. So, I am unable to share any future roadmap options at this time. I apologize about that.
As a user of Rush, there are some things that are notable to mention that have been bubbling up in the community. I have been telling the community about Project Violet, an iOS app which has been getting quite a lot of development in the mobile video editing arena. Taking a look at the new features there, you can see where that team is heading. As far as sync with Premiere Pro goes, I don't think that Violet is doing that right now, though. The development of syncing with Premiere Pro is out of my purview to speculate on. As a fellow Rush user, I am hopeful about that being added, as well as, Android Support.
Whatever happens with Rush in the short term is not yet known, but I imagine that the team will make some announcements eventually. Soon, I hope. As a Rush user, Violet really has my attention. If you are on iOS, you might try a test project to see if you are liking the workflow any better.
As you may know, the annual NAB conference is coming up shortly and that may provide new information about the roadmap for mobile video editing. I can't say for sure if that will occur, but definitely pay attention to industry news around that time. Afterward, feel free to reach out on the forum or PM me for any post-mortem commentary or plans for your potential future workflow.
I hope the information helps a bit.
Thanks,
Kevin

What a mess and what a shame, is there still no way to move projects to a new computer or back up the project files ?
