Premiere Rush stalling after playing a sequence/clip

Hi All,
Help needed!
When I play a sequence/clip and then click the home button to play a different clip the wheels spins and the app stalls indefinitely. I then have to force quit. Have uninstalled the latest version and tried using an older version.
running on a MacBook Pro M3 Max.
Any suggestions?
