Having an issue where Rush won't allow me to import certain JPG files to timeline. On iPhone 11 pro max iOS 13.3.1

The funny thing is the program will allow me to import iPhone camera photos, and even JPG's from my old camera. But anytime I try to import a JPG from my Sony a7iii it gives me unsupported media error. Any help?

What device and operating system are you working on?

iPhone 11s often save their photos as HEIF JPGs, which aren't universally supported.

edit- the photos are taken externally on a Sony a7iii mirrorless camera, processes in photoshop and exported as JPEG to Dropbox. They are then saved to my camera roll and attempted to be imported to Rush

I'm exporting the jpegs from photo shop as max quality jpeg. However I do save them from my Dropbox on my phone to post on socials. Could that be the issue? Is there a setting that I can change on my iPhone to save them as uncompressed JPEGs. I didn't know this. Thank you.

I am on an ipad pro with the latest update to my operating system. I tried to import jpegs and pngs made in Photoshop and it says it can not import the format. When I make it into a PSD file and try to import that it crashes. URGH! It is a small file.

Hi Ryrowins!

Welcome to the Rush community. I see that you're getting an issue while importing media in Premiere Rush.

  • What type of media files are you trying to import (codec/format, frame rate, frame size)?

Here's a list of supported formats for Rush. Please take a look: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/premiere-rush/help/import-footage.html#file-format-support

Let us know if you find it helpful.

Thank you,

Kartika

rush takes all my normal video media just fine, but when trying to import JPEG files it throws an error every time. I've tried multiple files and export formats (tiff, png and different media sizes for file sizes) it just won't work.

They import into premiere pro on my desktop just fine. I want to be able to use rush on my phone for quick video editing, not go to my desktop all the time. I'm updated to the most current version of Rush.

Oh, I see! Could you share the screenshot of the error message?

Did you try on another device? This way we can see if it's a specific issue.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kartika

Hi Katrina this is still happening to me in 2022. Clearly it's a script error everyone on this thread is having problems specifically with photoshop exports - comparability? Photo is less than 1.8 mb so why is this not fixed after all these years

(ps max attachment for this mobile forum is 47 mb, why would premiere rush have 1.8 capabilities??)

I have read the accepted file formats. I have tried the work arounds. I posted my device, my system and a screenshot. Then I gave up using Adobe Rush and went back to imovie.

Hi Ryrowins,

I'm guessing since these images came from your a7 they are pretty large. Currently Rush mobile does not support still image sizes greater than 4k.

If your image resolution is 4k or less please share with us so we can investigate further.

Best,

Peter

My images are 1mb each, 5 images in total. I still get 'MEdia Import Error'. This is so frustrating. Why is it so difficult to upload?

Hi Peter,

Can you raise the issue to the Product Management to have a better error message?

Something like "Image too large. Image larger than 4K not supported."

The current error message is wrong. It's not a format but a size issue.

That will avoid a lot of frustration.

Thank you!

Hello mate I solved it by posting the photos to a old account and using a app called respost. For some reason when you do this it works.

hope that helps mate ive been trying for hours to find a way for them to work and this way does.

I solved this by doing a custom export from Lightroom of the image I wanted to use. I set the size of the long edge to 1920 (for 1920x1080) and the exported image was able to be imported into Premiere Rush.

Hi Mysterylias,

Sorry for the issue. What is the frame size of the image in question? Our engineer, Peter, says it needs to be less than the UHD frame size (3840 x 2160 pixels (4K UHD)).

Thanks,
Kevin
