On my work PC, I have a copy of RoboHelp 2020 installed from a recent download of Technical Communications Suite and is licensed using an active subscription. The version is 2020.0.156. When I'm logged into the account with the subscription and try Help>Check for Updates, I'm taken to Create Cloud and I can't see RoboHelp listed and I can't find any link to check for and download the latest update. On my home PC, I have the same software installed and right now it's still running under a trial license (so I'm not logged in). When I try Help>Check for Updates on that PC, I get the Adobe RoboHelp Update application instead of Creative Cloud and I can check for and update the software. I've done this twice in the past week and I am now running 2020.3.32 on the home PC. The problem is if I take a project into work, the older version 2020.0.156 on that PC complains about version incompaitibility on opening the project and in fact fails to generate.
How can I force RoboHelp to open the RoboHelp Updater application instead of going to Creative Cloud application, and why doesn't RoboHelp appear on the list of applications linked to the work subscription?
IIRC there was a bug in the updater for the first release - try going to the download link page - https://www.adobe.com/support/robohelp/downloads.html - upgrading & then Help > Updates (because it doesn't look like they've put patch 3 up there yet).

Thanks - that URL only shows Update 2 (2020.0.2) - should I download that?

Ah, I see the bug 7664 listed at Issues fixed in Adobe RoboHelp as being fixed in Update 1. I take it that 2020.0.156 is before Update 1.

Correction, I RH is listed under Adobe for Teams, but I still have no option to update.

Yes, and then you should be able to force an update to 3 from within RH.

I might be wrong but should the page at Adobe - Support : RoboHelp Support Center : Service Releases show the top as as RoboHelp 2020.2.0 and not 2020.0.2? I's why I was confused because the download looks older that my initial install based on the version numbering shown there.

Yes that page is wrong and I will report it.
The logic is 2020 is the version and the next number is the update number. Thus 0 is the release, 1 is update 1 and so on.

If this tip is mentioned elsewhere, I missed it and it really needs to be front and center. When downloading and installing the zipped file, you may get the message 'The installation cannot continue as the installer file may be damaged. Download the installer file again.' This was fixed for me by tech support by unpacking the zip file again, to another folder, and then running the .exe file. Sounds obvious, but I spent ages looking for a solution with no joy.

Is the issue that you tried to run the exe file without unzipping first? That's a general No No not just RoboHelp as the file structure doesn't exist within the zip. It's unzipping that recreates the structure.

No, the issue in my case was when I recenlty downloaded Technical Communication Suite after a new subscription purchase, the download installers included RH 2020.0.156 (pre-Update 1) and that version had the bug 7664 listed as "Help > Update does not launch the updater; instead launches Creative Cloud app". According to Issues fixed in Adobe RoboHelp, bug 7664 was fixed in Update 1, but because I had 2020.3.32 I could not lauch the RH Updater application (it opened Creative Cloud instead). After almost instant help from Jeff_Coatsworth via this forum, I found out that it was necessary to manually download and install a new verion of the RH that included at least Update 1. After doing that, the Updater application would start and I could then check for updates from within the application and update it to the current published version without a problem.

typo correction - I meant to say 2020.0.156 had to be manually replaced via a new download before I could update RH from within the application from the replace Update 1 to the latest Update.

The bug was only discovered after 2020.0 was issued and then there was a forum Announcement at the top of the home page advising users how to download. It has since been removed as it was fixed later. I can edit the current post and will add that back in as there will be people still on the original release.
