All rejected for quality

Community Beginner ,

Hi community,

I submitted my first batch of photos, and all were rejected based on Quality. I can understand some of them, but a few seem OK to me, so I would like to better understand the issue.

Thanks for the feedback!

Casey

Both photos need sharpening and noise reduction. The second photo also has color noise and is too blue.

Better? Also, is it worth resubmitting if it's a quality issue?

I'm still trying to better understand this process, vs. ShutterStock which seems to be about submitting as much as possible.

Thanks!

You can try and get lucky by resubmitting. I got lucky s few times like that. But better to wait a month or so. Also rename it. But to be honest, hardly ever do they buy flower closeups. I may have soled 3 or 4 in 3 years. And I have decent flower shots. As for the snowy mountain ridge, it's nice and all, but to me it just doesn't "stand out". How shall I phrase it? It's a bit "dull". But I realize it took serious efforts to shoot it! Please don't get upset by my words. It may very well sell. You never know.

No, that's fair. I'm trying to understand the process and what's wanted. I like the curves and the line of cars passing through, but mostly I called these out to better understand the quality issue. With respect to the flower photo, very easy and basic, but I would say it's a 'similar' image more than a 'quality' issue.

I fully see the value in the top downloads, but when I do a search for Loveland Pass, I was surprised what was approved when mine wasn't.

It's a pretty flower, but unless it's some rare variety not already found in the database in large numbers, I wouldn't waste the time to upload and add titles and keywords. Adobe Stock already has more than 29 million floral images.

The mountain scene will not be accepted. The chroma noise is quite obvious, particularly in the shadowy area. You might try using the new Denoise feature in Lightroom Classic. It has resurrected quite a few of my images from the reject pile !

If you can fix the problems, resubmit. You can't fix the focus, however. Other issues can be addressed within limits. Do not resubmit unmodified assets.

Quality Control with Shutterstock is non-existent, IMHO. They only check IP. And they do a bad job with that.

Your 2nd image needs a Curves Adjustment layer to boost lighting and neutralize colors.

This is a quick & dirty example of adjustment layer applied to the foreground only.  The noise will need to be corrected separately.

Adobe Stock is not other services.  They have a totally different customer base who expect perfect quality photos for commercial use.  Read these links.

Hope that helps.

Yes it does help. Personally I'd rather do a handful of photos and spend a lot of time with each, vs the ShutterStock approach of needing 1k photos per year.

Thanks!
