Changing video thumbnail on Adobe Stock?

Community Beginner ,
Oct 26, 2022 Oct 26, 2022

How do I change the thumbnail on the videos I have uploaded on Adobe Stock? I am not sure how the video frame is chosen, but it isn't very good. I have attached a screenshot from my Adobe Stock account and have attached it. This is a video of flying over the Venice fishing pier and the beautiful blue of the Gulf of Mexico. This thumbnail is?

The Help page for video clips has the following info:

https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/video-editing-dos-and-donts.html

Preview images

Do: Be aware that your video's preview image will be automatically selected from a frame 5 seconds into the video

If you are not a programer, you can't say that it is easy. if you ever have maintained code that grew over generations of programers, you know that in programing nothing is easy.

This said, I think, Adobe should implement this as it would be also an added value for the buyer.

Seems like this has been a request for almost 10 years now and they STILL won't allow us to select our own thumbnails for videos. I just got off the phone with Adobe Contributor support for 35 minutes and the verdict is in....STILL NOT AN OPTION! It's a nice and EASY feature on the Shutterstock Contributor page, maybe they'll catch on.

How can we plan on the 5th frame being a good representation of the video? There must be a way to allow us to choose the appropriate frame for the thumbnail. Who better the creator that captured the footage, cut it, graded it, uploaded it, titled it, and key worded it, or the random choice of the 5th frame? This makes no sense. Getty/iStock has a simple slider to pick the video frame. Is Adobe unable to provide this option?

The users in this forum are not Adobe employees, so we cannot answer the question. By the way, the Help page says a frame "5 seconds into the video", not the 5th frame. This is quite arbitrary. I know when I upload videos to YouTube, I ALWAYS make my own thumbnail.

It does seem like a reasonable request, so perhaps you can submit it to Adobe Stock expert Mat Hayward.

It's not the 5 first images, it's the 5 fist seconds. That's even more unpredictable.

You can't! It's something on the contributor's wishlist for years.

WTH! Why not? It seems Adobe would want to offer more than iStock not less🤔

I suspect that if Stock BUYERS were requesting/demanding this feature, Adobe would pay more attention to it. We're just the suppliers; the money comes from the BUYERS!

Why would a buyer say anything? They will click on the thumbnail that looks good to them. The creator is the one that loses with an unfair thumbnail representation. iStock has a simple slider I drag to my frame of choice when uploading. It seems easy.

Because the thumbnail that is presented automatically doesn't represent the contents of the video, making it harder to find an appropriate one for their project.

I do not know, why not. I would even think, that it should be an easy thing to implement. But, as a mattar of a fact, I suppose that Adobe has a major trouble with this. May be the platform, when it has been taken over by Adobe was quite difficult to manage.

No, it's still not an option. There are some features that the competitor sites are in advance since a long time. But, well, the payout here is better.
