Feedback on Images rejected due to quality issues

Hi community,

I've uploaded and had hundreds of photos accepted previously, but in my last batch of uploads almost all have been rejected with the reason stated as quality issues. I've also had a few rejected with the reason 'similar images already submitted', however the image has been very different to others submitted (like a landscape with a person vs the same landscape without any people).

Are Adobe just being more selective these days, or can anyone help me understand what is the problem with these 2 images?

Thanks for a first time poster!

I'm seeing noise in the sky in both images as well as soft focus. The whites seem to be overexposed in the second image. Similars can also mean similar to other assets already in the database, not just yours. I do suspect that, with nearly 360 million assets in the database, and some categories very over represented, Adobe is being more selective

Thanks for your feedback Jill. Yes, if I zoom in at 400% I can see a little noise in the sky - I'll try to fix that and resubmit them. The weird thing is they accepted other photos that were taken at the same time (in the same drone session) with all the same settings. And with the similar images issue - they were of locations around Perth which is not over represented in the database. In fact a search only showed up a dozen photos of the same location. 🤷‍:female_sign: Really appreciate your time in responding to my post.

The "similars" rejections are rather baffling. I can't believe that Moderators are given the time to search for other images in the same keyword category as yours. You might consider editing slightly and resubmitting them, one at a time. If they're rejected again, move on, because you don't want to get accused of spamming the database !

Similar pictures rejections can sometimes be difficult to decipher. Sometimes it helps waiting some time to resubmit, but you should be sure that the difference in the picture is easily to spot.

As for your drone pictures, the have the same shortcomings than phone pictures: washed out details. in addition, if you look carefully (at 100% you see JPEG compression artefacts and aliasing. The white tones are also overexposed, making details to disapear. The shadow on one building is overexposed and looking blueish, letting me assuming that the white balance may be lightly off. And it seems that the first picture is also showing at least one logo/business sign.

There may also be aliasing on the pears, but that may also be construction related.

Thanks for your reply Abambo. So just to clarify with our drone we shoot in raw and the resolution is the higher than our Sony A7iv - so it shouldn't have the same issues as a phone photo. I can see that the white is definitely overexposed, so this must have occurred in my edit of the raw file. Really appreciate the feedback as I'm still learning as a photographer!

What is the sensor size? It's the resolution in relation to the sensor size. A high resolution and a small sensor is counter productive.

If you shoot RAW, you should try to edit the shoots better. You may be able to recover more detail in the highlights and whites.

Hello,

A lot of images these days, and locations around the world can indeed look similar to other places. Drone shots can look similar to other places. It can be hard to get something unique as every man and his dog has a camera, drone, or both.

Thanks Ricky - yes there are lots of drone photos these days, but ours are very specific to a city in Australia that doesn't have as many available. The similar photos reject issue was actually not a drone photo - just a regular digital photo of a landscape - one had myself in it, and the other was the landscape with no people (which was accepted). I just couldn't understand why the photo with myself in the landscape was rejected as it would be unique to me and was definitely different to the other photo I submitted. Seems strange!

There are also from time to time wrong rejection reasons, kind of rejection reason 6 instead of 5.
