Is there any way I can get a reasonable idea of exactly which images or keywords I should avoid so I can protect myself from intellectual property issues — like any websites, articles, or something like that?

Brand names and artist names are off limits. Beyond that, do a Google search to see if your keyword reveals anything that might pose an IP conflict.
