I just had an illustration rejected and the reason was "Non-Compliant Image". It did not state what the exact problem was. It listed three possible causes:
- Non compliant use of another artist’s name.
- Undeclared Generative AI Content.
- Content not compliant with overall guidelines
The reasons listed above are totally false.
For one thing, the image does not have anything in it that would suggest another artists created it.
Secondly, I don't even have an A.I. program, and have never used A.I. for my work.
I use two programs to create my work and edit photos. One is called Affinity Photo, and the other is Affinity Designer. They are not A.I. related.
Thirdly, I have older illustrations in my portfolio that were accepted without question.
I have included the image in question to show what I mean. I created it by manipulating one of my landscape photos, that I own, to create the rock portal. The background was created by digital painting. The girl in the image is also digitally painted, and 100% fiction from my imagination. Is there a way I can appeal this rejection since I did not use A.I.?
I have been with Adobe since they swallowed up Fotolia, which was a long time ago. I can understand an image being rejected for technical problems, or not being suitable for Adobe's market. But I take great offense at being accused of using A.I. when I did this myself using the tools in my photo editing program.

PHOTO DOs & DON'Ts:

It's not a photo, it's an illustration. I don't think that the same vignette guidance applies to illustrations.

The do's and don't you're referring to is for photos. The particular image I posted about is an illustration.
Except for some HDR toning, I have never used effects in my photography work, and as I mentioned, I usually get most of my photographs approved. It's illustrations that Adobe seems to have problems with sometimes.
By the way, in my illustration, what you think is a frame, is actually a part of the illustration. I was depicting my character standing in a Time Portal, which is why there are swirling flames behind her.

Incidentally, the Dos & Don'ts apply to photos & illustrations.

Did you submit a pixel-based JPG or a math-based vector graphic (.eps, .svg or .ai) file.
I ask because vector graphics cannot contain raster elements. That would be enough for "non-compliant" refusal.
Anyway, I have to clean up after the earthquake here. Some wine glasses got broken. 😓

To answer your question, it was a rasterized JPG file that was uploaded. I selected "Illustration" before submitting it since it is not a photo.
I do have some abstract illustrations already for sale on Adobe that were also uploaded as JPGs, and were placed in the Illustration category. They passed without question.
Like I mentioned before, since one of the possible reasons listed in the rejection was "Undeclared Generative AI Content", I am suspecting that was the real reason for the rejection. If I am right, and it was rejected for suspicion of being an AI generated image, then that is why I am irritated about it because I clearly stated in the image description that I did not use AI to make the image.
But unless someone from Adobe actually confirms or denies that reason, I am only speculating.

By the way, I did not hear about an earthquake. Do you live in CA? I am in AZ.

A lot shaking going on today.
Honolulu earthquake: 10:am, 5.7 magnitude. No tsunami.
Malibu earthquake: 1:48 pm, 4.6 magnitude. We've had 12 or more aftershocks since.

Wow, 4.6 is definitely noticeable, depending on how close you are !

It's not a vector illustration, it's a pixel illustration.
(good luck with your earthquake clean-up)
