What if you take part of an AI image (e.g. an object or a person) and insert into one of your own photos. Does anyone have an idea if it should be marked as an AI generated image?

Yes, Adobe has stated that if you use Gen AI to add anything to a photograph, you must tick the Generative AI checkbox when submitting.

I ment if you 'just' expand an image witg Generative Fill - I seem to remember Mat stating you didn't have to. But obviously I am wrong.

Does the use of Generative Fill and Generative Expand in Photoshop and Generative Recolor in Illustrator require labelling an image as generative AI?

Label your image as generative AI when the use of generative AI tools in Photoshop or Illustrator changed, augmented, or added a new primary subject of an image.

Examples when to label your image as generative AI:

  • Generating new additions, such as a new person, animal, or object
  • Adding new subjects might compromise the accuracy of an image
  • Making significant adjustments or changes to a human subject in an image
  • Recoloring the primary subject of an image

Examples when you wouldn’t be obligated to label an image as generative AI:

  • Extending background for any reason
  • Removing IP or other forms of retouching
  • Removing distracting objects or people
  • Recoloring the background of an image

If I read @Jill_C's answer, you do not need to mark your asset for extending your background. So go ahead. (please link the conversation with Mat, that would be helpfull)

It's all or nothing.  Either you used AI elements or you didn't use any.  % is irrelevant.
