Public event crowd question

Community Beginner ,

I did a search but I don't find an answer. I was in the White House press pool for a Trump rally. I have photos of the crowd, as well as the former president. There were tens of thousands of people there at this public event. 99% of the people in the photo have their head turned away from the camera but it seems there usually at least one person in every photo has at least a partial profile showing. They are slightly out of focus, as I was focusing on the former president in the distance or just on a sign being held up above the crowd. Can I submit those or will they be rejected for no model release? I attached a picture of my computer screen to show an example of what I'm talking about.

I think for at least a third of the people in the shot, I think they would recognize themselves if they saw it.  They would need a model release.  The sign would also need a property release.  I have a feeling this would be best submitted as an Editorial Use Only photo which Adobe allows after contributors pass 100 downloads.

You may also be restricted on how you can use the photos by the event.

I agree that this would need a Model Release since certainly that man in profile would recognize himself. Adobe doesn't accept Illustrative Editorial images with recognizable people:

For illustrative editorial, we don’t accept:

  • Images that feature recognizable people
  • Images of restricted events such as conventions and sports games
  • Images that feature tight crops of copyrighted or trademarked material, such as stamps, fine art, or other content that may violate privacy rights
  • Digitally created or manipulated versions of trademarked logos or other brand content — other than social media icons

At least the man in the black shirt and the sign need a release. Still, the photo has technical problems.

I think it is fair to say that the sign is someone's IP. So you would need to blank out the sign. That would of course make the shot pointless, but those are the rules; Adobe aren't buying news photography.

Actually, they are accepting "Illustrative Editorial" images for their newsworthiness. Here's what that help page says:

At Adobe Stock, we define illustrative editorial as conceptual imagery designed to illustrate articles on current events and newsworthy topics. This type of content often features images of real brands and products — like signs on buildings, soda cans, computers, and cars — to convey a story. Illustrative editorial content is made available to Adobe Stock customers for editorial use only."

However, they explicitly state that they don't accept Editorial images with people in them, so that certainly excludes any images from protests or rallies.

This will not be accepted. Do not try to submit editorial use only images for commercial licensing. Please note that the reference to submitting editorial after 100 downloads is only for Illustrative Editorial content. We do not accept editorial images that show people.

Thanks,
