Similar images already submitted!!!

Participant ,
Mar 31, 2025 Mar 31, 2025

Hello there,

I went from a 95% acceptance rate to 20% or less. Almost all of my submissions are being rejected for the "similar image" reason.

The quality of the images is really good and doesn’t have any issues.

I am uploading at most 2 or 3 variations of each object ,PNGs only and a variety of different items across many categories. I also make sure not to upload similar content that I’ve previously submitted. I am 100% certain that my entire account doesn’t have more than three variations of any given item.

Sometimes, I upload the same object in different styles.

for example, a car in a 3D style and another version in watercolor or clay, so they are still distinct. (2 to 3 variations for each style)

Is this a general issue that will be resolved soon, or is it only affecting me?

Yes, it affects your contributions in that they aren't made available for sale.

It is believed that "similar images" also refers to other similar images throughout the database from other Contributors.

It's not just you.

Others are seeing "similar" rejections, too.

I received a response in a day. But again, it was copperplate standard text. Point is to just let them know what's going on, since Adobe doesn't always check out some of the forums.

A number of contributors are having assets rejected for being too similar when in fact they are not. We don't know why. Our only option is to wait things out until the situatioin is explained or fixed. Some have ceased to submit new assets in the meantime.

The same just happened to me.  I have always gotten 96-99% acceptance rate.  I was getting images reviewed very quickly as of late but then a number of images were held up for a week or so and all of them got rejected for "similar images already submitted" over the last 3 days.  Admittedly a couple were "similar", but in my opinion and experience (I have 4000+ images on Adobe) different "enough" but also a number of them were totally unique.    What the heck is going on???

I wonder if they have intiated some AI program into the review process.

Or maybe they're looking more closely at what Stock Customers actually buy.  The metrics may have shifted in ways that we're not aware of yet.

I would have to say this would have to be a huge shift, and if it is, why
would you make a change with this much impact on the resources that provide
the product you resale without any update or notice?

@Craig_Z Totally agree. Why do contributors not deserve to know what has changed? If Adobe made major changes, they at least owe us an announcement, whatever this announcement is. So far zero clarity, zero notices, almost zero support (automated template replies do not count). This is a serious issue for contributors and is not okay.

Just thinking out loud.

I've been a small business owner for 30 years.  Customer buying habits change.  We don't always know why.  We just know there's a sudden shift in the marketplace as we pivot to meet the demand.

To use an ice cream analogy, maybe Adobe has enough 'plain vanilla' inventory, and they're searching for more exciting flavors like 'Pickled-Mango' or 'Honeydew Melon Wasabi.' 😬

This issue has become widespread over the past few months.
Attempts to contact support usually end with the same generic copy-paste response quoting the site's rules.
(Do they really think that people who are tech-savvy can't read the website themselves?)
Still, I believe that if enough people report this to support, the AI might eventually trigger some sort of "relay" and bring attention to the problem of these rejections.

We're trying to figure that out. I've had over 30 such rejections.

Sure. It's more a glitch with the helper software searching for similar assets. It looks that the filter  moderators use or have to use is pretty bad.

But this is supposed to be an open platform for showcasing our work, regardless of the presence of similar content.
Otherwise, it starts to feel like monopolistic control of the market.

By @Sergei37432802f12q

Not exactly. This is supposed to be a platform to license your content according to the rules as defined by Adobe. Adobe has since always established some restriction on the content that you can submit. Similar content is one of the restrictions.

And no, it is not a platform for showcasing your work, but to offers customers a wide range of assets. You are secondary in this.

I'm as confused about the rejections for "too similar" as everyone else, but no, this is not an open platform for showcasing one's work. That's Instagram and Facebook. 😉

You said "But this is supposed to be an open platform for showcasing our work, regardless of the presence of similar content.". Adobe Stock is NOT an "open platform for showcasing our work". If that's what you're looking for, use Flickr or SmugMug, or Instagram, or your own website or any other photo sharing site. Adobe Stock is focused on providing commercially viable imagery to Stock Buyers. Their decisions are based on satisfying Buyers. If Buyers are complaining about the millions of similar images that they have to sift through to find one useful one, Adobe is going to respond to that.

Doesn't having a lot of images mean that I can find the images I want? Then, should the contributor look at all the millions of images and create images without them?
