Struggling with Low Sales Despite 10k Images - Need Advice and Feedback

Explorer ,
Jan 23, 2025 Jan 23, 2025

Hi everyone,

I hope you're doing well. I’ve been an Adobe Stock contributor for a while now and have uploaded around 10,000 images to my account. Despite this large portfolio, I’ve only managed to earn around $20 so far, which is quite disappointing.

I was wondering if anyone else has faced a similar issue or if there might be something I’m doing wrong?

Here are some specific questions I’d love insights on:

  • Could there be a specific reason my sales are so low?
  • Are there any tips or strategies that could help improve my sales and visibility?
  • Does my portfolio look optimized for Adobe Stock's audience?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and advice. Thanks in advance for your help!

How long did it take you to upload 10,000 assets? Are they AI or real photos?

Looking at some of your work at random, especially our earlier stuff, I’m coming across a number of assets that the moderators should never have accepted and which would likely be returned by a discriminating buyer noticing such issues. Here is one example.

"So buyer can return the assets?"

Absolutely then can, and they are seldom happy when they have to do so, since it potentially disrupts their workflow.

Edit your assets. Inspect them from corner to corner at 100-200%. There is np magic way to produce "quality" images. 99.9999% require editing. And for what it's worth, I upload edited AI assets everyday and have been doing so for over two years. I only recently surpassed 5000 assets.

Thank you for your advice and sharing your experience. I truly appreciate it. Editing is an area I’m not very familiar with, and I’d love to learn more. Could you please share some details or tips on how you edit your AI assets? For example, what tools do you use, and what key areas should I focus on while editing? Your insights would be incredibly helpful

I use Photoshop. Focus on the areas that need fixing. View your assets at 100-200% from corner to corner. And fix any issues you discover. I won't lie: learning how to edit takes a lot of practice. There is no simple solution.

My only two major expenses were Gigapixel AI and PortraitPro, but I had already owned both applications from my photography days, so the expense involved was negligible for my AI purposes.

Ok - I definitely want to separate the two. AI should be able to pay for itself. Generator and upscaling, but that's just me... But over time, of course, more sales will come.

Gigapixel is a must-have. PortraitPro, not so much. I use it primarily to smooth over-sharpened hair, change the overall shape of the face (barely noticeably), or change eye color. These are all things that can be done by hand, but PortraitPro saves time. It's normally $120, but now on sale for $60. I still wouldn't take advantage of the sale if I didn't already own it. It's not essential for AI work. And probably not for basic portraiture, either. In the hands of a novice, it's really easy to over edit to the point the subject becomes unrecognizable.

Right. $120 means you have to earn about $500 - maybe more -  just to get even. But time will show. :0)

Without seeing your assets, it's impossible to speculate.

Maybe your content isn't what customers are buying right now.

Or it might be due to lackluster keywords, titles & descriptions.

I see a lot of similars on your account on themes are are highly over-represented in Adobe Stock. I'm quite sure that Adobe does not need one more abstract background. With 1,000,000 AI images being added every day, it's hard to find unique topics, but uploading many that are quite similar isn't helping your chances of having your images found.

Thank you for your feedback. I understand that the market is highly competitive, and I agree that unique and diverse content performs better. In your opinion, would uploading 1-2 similar images per theme instead of several improve the chances of acceptance and visibility? I appreciate your guidance

I stopped scrolling after 6 pages of "hearts."

There's a LOT of the same content, which means you're in direct competition with yourself for views.

Also, anything containing "2025" has sold through by now. That's the one-trick pony that will never see a revival.

Looks like you might need to do a deep cleaning of your 10,000 assets. Many are simply unusable. Yes, we can blame the moderators for allowing bad assets to be accepted, but the real responsibility falls first on the contributor. Moderate your own work.
