How can I permanently disable AI-generated images showing up in my searches?

Explorer ,
Jul 06, 2023 Jul 06, 2023

I've noticed very poor quality AI-generated images showing up in my Adobe Stock searches. The only way to filter these out is to manually select a box "Exclude AI-generated Imagery" every single time I do a search. If I begin a new search it defaults back every single time to include AI-imagery.

I cannot use AI-generated imagery in my work as a designer. I am against the concept of it, and it's decimating the creative industries. Also, the images are horrible quality and not professional.

I need a way to permanently disable AI-imagery showing up in my searches. Adobe, can you please add this as a function to my account?

I also hope more creatives speak up about this in the comments below. I am considering leaving Adobe as a customer if they continue to push poor quality AI-generated content on their site.

There is no sticky option for any filter in Adobe stock. But there is an idea of the same with already hundreds of upvotes. Make sure to join that one and upvote.

Someone also created a small add on for chrome, to set the filter each time you visit Adobe stock. If I find back, I will post the link here.

This seems like a good idea. Be sure you vote on the original post. More votes means more likely to get the attention of the Adobe product manager who decides which features get implemented.

Go to the first post in this thread and hit the Vote button. The more votes this idea this gets, the more likely that Adobe will put it in their product plan.

I work with large format printing, and simply cannot use AI generated images due to the inconsistency and weirdness of AI generated images being scaled 10 to 100 times the size than on screen. It is making it hard for me to justify continuing to use Adobe Stock when i have to manually filter out AI generated assets every single time i do a search, and wasting our monthly tokens because AI images are too poorly labeled and easy to miss. Please add an account setting or permanent setting to forever disable AI generated imagery on Adobe Stock.

If you accidentally licensed an AI asset because it wasn't properly labeled, you can request a credit for that license.

Go to the first post in this thread and vote it up so that Adobe will take this request under serious consideration.

Yes, please! The ability to permanently filter out AI images from my Adobe Stock account would be most welcome. AI has ruined Adobe Stock and it is frustrating to have to click "Exclude Generative AI" every time I do a search.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Adobe Stock has been ruined by AI, but it has suffered from too many crappy AI assets having been accepted. As someone who submits 100% AI, this is infuriating to me and I have no doubt it has affected my sales to some degree. Personally, I don't believe Adobe will ever make it possible to disable AI in the filter column any more than they would make it possible to disable videos or illustration or any other category.

I don't recall the camera or old photoshop needing to engulp the entire internet using content without permission to generate a photo or psd. I love how you cut and paste this everytime some one asks for a perminant ai filter

Coming back here AGAIN because this hasn't been addressed by Adobe. I still cannot filter out AI-generated images, and there are thousands of poor quality AI images on Adobe's site that are not labeled as AI. There are hundreds of posts like mine, urging Adobe to address this problem. Graphic Designers do not want to use AI-generated poor quality images in their work!

You make a really good point. However, I think if they start losing customers due to quality issues and bad customer journey they might. Sure variety is good, but it´s not about quantitiy of images, it´s about quality. If this will not be ensured and we need to play image detective I´ll switch.

Whilst this isn't fixed, I made an extension for Chrome to hide Gen AI content from Adobe Stock permanently.

It works by manually adding a filter if it detects that you are on Adobe Stocks website. It's a pretty "dumb" extension, but it works for now.

You can install it for free from here https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/adobe-stock-ai-remover/mnffogghgphkbchlaobpokaoaphpmgej

If you prefer to run the extension locally and verify the code, you can see all the instructions here https://sites.google.com/view/rodscripts#h.tryg8nuifvjc

This is amazing! Thank you.
Its stupid that the community has to clean up after Adobe polluting their own service. I am so grateful that you did 🙂

@rodrigob49755234 ,

The script looks pretty good. I did not try it out yet, but it seems to be safe.

@Roy2585604510rv ,

I'm not sure who the buyer of generative AI is, but it seems to be a good business. The issue, however, are the multiple scrap assets that are in the database and should never have passed the moderation.

I agree, we need to inundate Adobe with feature requests to make default searches that allow users to exclude AI, premium, and editorial use only. My company has rules and not allowing these exclusions for my account is a waste of time.

Also, that image of the baby's head without a body is nightmare fodder.

As someone who only submits AI, images like this being accepted pains me to the bone.

I would also love to be able to permanently disable AI search results, mostly so I don't have to see abominations like this anymore. Like honestly, how can you charge for this?

We've been through this. 🙂 No, you can not permanently exclude AI from searches. People have been requesting a "sticky" feature for some time, but that as yet has not been implemented.

I have come to the conclusion that Adobe is ignoring these requests because they invested quite a lot of money in gen AI and they must have metrics to show their investors to justify this investment. Same as Google, Microsoft, all the other huge companies. Notice how their AI product buttons are getting more and more invasive? Like they are literally forcing us to use them? It's because AI is still incredibly unpopular among consumers, which is a problem when you invested huge amounts of capital with promises of great returns.

Always remember, desperate people will do desperate things. If a company's site is covered in pop-ups and screaming banner ads, usually that means business isn't meeting expectations. If there was a permanent sticky option then probably their AI use metrics would plummet, and that would look bad. Profits and investors over customers.

I completely agree. It is wildly bizzare to me that Adobe promotes AI in general, Im still shocked they allow it. But being stolen work it surprises me that Adobe cant use common sense that these assets are problematic in business settings and cannot be used. Why not have a permanent feature to hide these and make the user experience better? I mean from my thinking, they can try to promote it all they want and encourge us to use it, but if we morally and legally wont/cant/refuse to, then they are simply denying a better experience for those users. Its sad and disppointing frankly.

This is not the "correct answer"-- read my suggestion. I want to allow the permanent toggle of excluding AI or at least make it OFF by default and allow users to opt in. Nice try but please delete your answer.

@daniellei4510 Please stop being an apologist for Adobe and AI in general. You are missing the point of my suggestion here: if someone (or a corporation or client) has a moral or legal preference to not use AI stock photos, they should be able to opt out or permanently toggle off AI imagesin their search. Whatever you personally think about AI is irrelevant.

I have no issues at all if Adobe were to decide to make the AI option sticky.

Adobe tried that and it was a complete disaster. It lasted about three or four days.

@daniellei4510 having a toggle off for AI was done for 3-4 days and disabled or what are you referring to? I cant imagine that even being possible to be a disaster so Im curious if i misunderstood your response?
