Anything sparkling, any hint?

Hello there,

 

Is there any tips and tricks about making a sparkling or glossy texture as strass/velvet/satin? I guess I can deal with the depth and relief in Substance Sampler but I'm stuck with the shiny part.

From what I see my problem is related to

- gloss

- metalness

- IOR

Any advice?

I usually turn to a separate shader such as Blender's Velvet shader. It is a very difficult material to simulate. Where that is not possible, a bit of metallic noise using values between metal and non metal, along with roughness noise can help bring that velvety sheen out.

Little update :

Still struggling, whatever I try, it always looks plastic. I can reach an average leather or velvet but nothing that looks close from satin/silk. This is really where I'm lacking experience about the maps and parameters that make the difference between plastic/leather/fabrics when rendering materials. Any hint?
