looking for help/tutorial on creating overlapping shapes

HI there, 

I might be jumping in at the deepend here as ive not really used designer before, but id like to create a tiling texture of some overlapping shapes similar to this image.  Would anybody know of any handy tutorials of something similar that could help me possibly?

As a starting point, try a Tile Sampler Color with Alpha Blend mode driving the height

    thanks - i maaged it using shape splatter node which works pretty well
