Thread pattern creation

Hi Everyone,

GUEST_62c94bb8-775c-4920-85ea-4a.jpgGUEST_9be249dd-483d-41e4-8a71-98 (1).jpg

Please have a look at the attached image. I need to create the fabric thread pattern and color as it is like that, I don't have a clear idea to make the colour of the fabric threads some threads looks darker green, light green and others looks close to white. Please share the knowledge how to achieve that in substance designer.

Regards,
vasanth

Hi Vasanth,

Thanks for the message.

As usual, there are a lot of possibilities to achieve the image reference, and I don't know how much you're used to Substance 3D Designer.

I'd say the easiest way to achieve this result would be to use an already existing material from the Substance 3D assets library (as instance the Flecked Denim Fabric), tweak the parameters of the .SBSAR to obtain a result as close as the reference and bring the Rose pattern (or anything needed), and blend it with the Base Color of the previously imported material.

I think it is the most direct solution, but the result will be a bit "procedural looking" and not really detailed. You can start with this as a base and then work on details, like adding color variation.

You could also create your own fabric pattern with different Fiber Nodes, and build masks for the colors from these.

On another note, if you're often working on fabric, Substance 3D Sampler might interest you.
