Hello.
Let's start with some basic information:
1. Substance 3D Painter 2022 (Steam) - Version 8.3.1
2. PC - Windows 10
3. I'll describe it further
4. To prevent the computer from crashing
I was working on textures for my projects as usual. I noticed that Height in my file gives a noticeable "ladder" - a transition between different values in the Height gradient, as if it were an 8-bit texture.
For the sake of testing, I opened the default MeetMat sample and did not notice a problem with Height in this file. I started checking what could cause the "ladder" to appear and changed the scene settings.
When I set the texture quality to 4096, Specular quality to "Ultra (256 spp)" and try to uncheck Bent Normal, the PC restarts.
I have no idea why this sequence causes a restart. After the first crash, I opened the program again and tried to reproduce this situation, this happens exactly if "Specular quality" is equal to 256 spp and if the model has a drawn Height, and this did not happen when there was only a stripe. But when I painted with a brush and tried to turn off Bent Normal again, a crash occurred.
The third time, the computer restarted immediately when I tried to open the "cursed" file. I asked my friend to check how this file would work on his laptop. He did not have this problem, he could turn Bent Normal on/off and no crashes occurred.
Unfortunately, the log with the crash after turning off "Bent Normal" was overwritten, since I went into SP for the fourth time and opened another scene, but did not change the settings in it and successfully closed the program. Independent study of the logs did not bring me any closer to understanding what happened.
There was 1 normal log and 1 log when the restart occurred immediately after opening the file in SP.
I've recently been able to work smoothly with the browser, Blender, Substance Painter, and Substance Designer all running at the same time, not counting other small programs, without any crashes or restarts.
I am interested in what exactly caused this problem. I will be glad to receive your help.
P.S. Sorry for the bad English, I used a translator.
P.S.S. One screenshot from my friend - he had no problems with this file.
