Texture Set Error - Distortion when applying Generators/Materials

I'm running into an error in which my texture sets are not applying properly to my model, creating distortion when I try to apply materials.

For reference, here is what my model looks like when I apply a UV Border Distance generator to a basic material:

The weird part is that the texture maps themselves, when I review them, don't look too out of the ordinary - I attempted to use texture maps that were baked within substance painter, as well as texture maps that I baked in marmoset to test it out.

I have attached my log file to this post, and I have a zip drive with my scene, meshes, texture maps, and log file here.

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand your issue. Could you explain what you are trying to achieve? What is your setup in your DCC before exporting to Painter? What do you want Painter to do for you?
Thank you for those clarifications,

Kind regards,
Geoffroy SC

Hi GeoffroySC,

What I'm trying to do is to create material layers and use generators that use the texture maps that I've generated - I want to have them be aware of things like the curvature, AO, etc.  The problem, as you can see in the images I've included in this image, is that for some reason, this process has been corrupted somehow.  I used the UV Border Distance generator as an example because it shows in black and white what happens when I try to use material layers and generators - there is glitching that I can't explain

Hi,

Could you share your project? Or at least show the UVs, the mesh and Painter in its totality, it's difficult to help you without a full picture.

Thank you,
Kind Regards,

Geoffroy SC

I have linked a .zip drive with my scene file, meshes, texture maps, and log file in my post - it can be found at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oAulwneDpGD5D5g2ZXUwuqD8p-Xq03AV/view

Hi,
You are applying the generator directly on your fill layer on all the channels (basecolor, roughness, normal, height etc.). I would recommend using a workflow where generators are applied on masks and your fill layer decide the property of your material.
In your specific case, the generator you are using is producing a black and white image directly on all your channels on the targeted fill layer. This is difficult to control as you don't necessarily want all your channels to have the same value.

That's all well and good - but what I'm seeing from your GIF is that the distorted, stretched out effect that appears in my image isn't showing up when you test the scene.  Is there something wrong my scene or my machine that is giving me this effect?  The only reason I applyed the generator to the fill layer was to illustrate this problem I was having.

I have this when I open your scene :

GeoffroySC_0-1658330070306.pngexpand image

This is normal as you're set-up shows the basecolor and you're using the UV border on a fill layer which is a generator that creates a black and white image from the UV borders. This generator has some limitations in its definition. There are some lines that appear on it, nothing bad if you use it with care or at maximum contrast.

To be sure could you share a log? This would allow me verify that you're not encountering any problem because of your hardware.

Thank you

Ok, I looked at the log that you linked in your drive (I didn't notice it at first) and you're using M1 mac. This device wasn't natively supported until yesterday (!). The last update should solve any weird issue that you might have with your device, feel free to report any other issue that you are having.

Sorry for the inconvenience,
Kind Regards,
Geoffroy SC
