Baking Mode in latest Substance 3D Painter completely missing!

New Here ,
May 18, 2023 May 18, 2023

Hi.

I downloaded the latest version of Substance Painter today, hoping to use the new baking viewport that I'd heard about, but the entire baking mode is not accessible. The croissant icon isn't there, going to MODE only brings up Painting (F9) and Rendering (F10) modes. Pressing F8 itself also has no effect.

I can't see anybody else talking about this online. Is this a bug or is there something I'm missing?

I'm using a student license, in case that's important.

Thanks in advance

-Andrew

Is your student license a current version obtained through Adobe's website or a previous license obtained through Allegorithmic's scheme? If the latter, then 8.1.3 is the last applicable version, but if you are still a student you could apply through Adobe.

It is discussed in the thread linked below:

In the 'Texture Set Settings' panel, scroll down to 'Mesh Maps' and click on 'Bake Mesh Maps'. That will open the new baking views.

Hi, thanks for your reply. This wasn't quite what I was after though.

After looking more closely, I've seen that the changes I'm describing came in with version 8.3. My previous version (asking me if I wanted to download the latest one) has actually only upgraded it to version 8.1.3.
