Hey

I have this blender file, im trying to bake in substance painter, but it doesnt seem to do anything.

I have made a lowpoly model and baked Highpoly model into.

Any ideas?

Hi you don't need an ID map in this case as it is all one material.

Open your low poly and in 'bake mesh maps' add the high poly. You will need to adjust the frontal distance to remove errors before baking.

After baking you should see the mesh maps for Normal, Curvature and Position have now been populated.

Note although these maps will add some curvature to the surface when rendered, baking cannot add detail to edges when viewed against a background. That is one of the shortcomings of using a low poly model, surface detail is simulated rather than added and edges viewed against a background remain low poly.

A couple of things as an aside :

1. I looked at your low poly in Blender and it has a few issues with edges that overlap and splits along seams. I suspect you might have decimated it from teh high poly model, but you may want to look closely at it and repair some of the issues manually befor using it.

2. It is usual to name the meshes xxxxxx_low and xxxxxx_high, so that you can match by name if necessary. Again not strictly necessary here but a good habit to get into.

For Baking, you need ID MAP. Do you have ID Map? Low poly and High Poly are not matter. There is also an another issue. If you like to Baking in Adobe Substance, you have to think about Unwrap UVW, it is very important for texturing and also you should have done Good mesh. If you have problem with mesh, it won't not work either,

Hi robax

Ty alot for your answer. I have a couple questions, its my first time in this program.

ID map is that the thing i check in bake mesh map settings? and should that always be on?

I unwrapped the lp and hp in blender. And last question:), good mesh do you mean, good topology and like a clean model?
