Issues with Normals and UV Seams in Substance: Seeking Solutions

Hello everyone 🙂

I’m encountering issues with normals at the seams of my UV maps, including between material IDs. Even though the piece is perfectly modeled and joined, the normal maps extracted in Substance clearly show these seams.

Is there any function or setting I can use to avoid this? Sometimes I have to use plugins like Unwrella, especially with complex organic models, and I’m also limited by texture size and number of material IDs.

Hi @bibirasta,

Thank you for the message.

Can you show us a screenshot of the issue? Is this seam also visible in the Material view or only in the Normal view?

If it's only visible in the Normal view, that's the expected behavior. A Normal map is in a tangent space, therefore the UV islands rotation can create visible seams in the Normal map. However, those seams are visible in the normal, so they can be invisible on the material.
