Metallic effect on paint layer?

New Here ,
Jan 21, 2022 Jan 21, 2022

Hey there

I am trying to add a metallic effect to my paint layer, but cannot find how to do it, and when I change the slider on the paint layer it does nothing currently (because I am using projection to paint on the model).

Thanks,

Henry.

You need to change metallic map. White and black color increase or decrease metallic property of material; Choose metallic view and draw on it or add any texture. Hope this help

I don't think I can do this as I painted the thing with projection...

So how would I even do what you suggested when I have what I have?

Hi

A couple of ways.

Switch to the metallic channel and paint over with metallic set to 1 and all other channels off

or

If your painted layer is otherwise transparent,  add a fill layer with only metalness and in masks add a filter with a compare mask. Then set that mask to compare the basecolor channel Constant > Layers below and adjust the constant so only the painted areas are unmasked in the metal fill layer.
