missing starter assets

New Here ,
Jul 05, 2023 Jul 05, 2023

Approximately two months ago, I made a purchase of Substance Painter. However, upon opening the software on a particular day, I discovered that my essential starter materials, including aluminum pure, brass pure, copper pure, gold pure, and skin textures, were missing. Seeking assistance, I contacted Adobe, but unfortunately, they were unable to resolve my issue. This situation is becoming increasingly frustrating for me as I rely on these materials to continue my work. I attempted to address the problem by uninstalling the software and even purchasing Substance Painter using a different account, but the issue persists.

Hi @Izzy T,

Thanks for reporting.

Since the 9.0.0, some materials have been removed from the starter library in order to clean up everything (the library was getting old) and let new assets take place.

Almost all the removed materials are available in the Substance 3D Community Assets, except for those who weren't .SBSAR, but presets. Copper pure, Gold pure, Aluminium pure, etc. were all presets, meaning there weren't Substance Graphs, but simply Fill Layers with saved values.

You can easily recreate those Fill Layers and saved them as presets to keep them in your own library.
RMB on the Properties windows > Create Material preset

With that being said, the skin materials were .SBSAR, so I'm unsure why they're not in the Community Assets library. I'll ask and come back to you as soon as I have an answer.

Best regards,

For the skin materials, those were scans given by 3rd party. Therefore, we're not allowed to post them on the Community Assets. You'll need to reinstall a previous version if you want to copy the skins in your library.
