Feature Suggestion - Isolate Layer

My biggest gripe with Substance Painter is not being able to isolate and view what an individual layer is doing. Once you have a lot of groups and layer stacks it becomes extremely combersome to toggle layers on and off. Could we utilize the drop down menu in the viewport that allows us to view individual maps and channels to give us not only a layer mask preview but the selected layer(s) as an option also?

Better yet, just give us a node graph, please and thank you.

better yet, If we could hold down alt and click on the layer to isolate it (just like isolating masks). Please and thank you.

Hi @Holly W and hi @yutu285613219poe,

This seems like good ideas.

Thank you for the suggestions, I’ll bring them to the team!

Yes please! Especially troubleshooting with large amounts of folders and layers, it gets really tedious to manually show/hide 10-20 layers.

sorry to nudge but I'm curious if there are any updates on this suggestion? Very intuitive useful feature, especially for those who come from Photoshop.

I totally agree... This feature would speed up the process, like in Ps.

I have a feeling it's not happening.
In their defense, toggling layers in 3d Painter is a massive computational task (I think it has to redraw the entire layer stack?) I tend to avoid it as much as possible deep into projects since it gets painfully sluggish every time I toggle layers on/off.

It is, but it's also our job to find solutions. To be honest, we are frequently discussing this topic and this is probably something that all artists have face at some point, so we are looking for solutions.

However there are currently other topics with a higher priority for Substance 3D Painter.

Regards,
