Question

Creating masks besed on face orientation

I'm trying to create a mask based on geometry axis orientation.  For example, snow deposits on the faces that face the Y axis, but fades as the face turns away from the Y axis. Is there a way to do that in substance painter? I haven't found it. You can mask based on occlusion, edges, and other things, but I do not see something based on facing angle.

Thank you for any tips.

As you can see in the example images you can achieve the effect by using a Generator / Light type of mask or Generator / World Space Normals, I think they are very similar in the result but the properties of each one are totally different.
Remember for the Generator being able to do this, first the model need to have their Position Gradient and World Space Normal channel input images in place (you can see those in bottom right part in the attached images).

Thank you for responding. Yeah I tried using the generators but was unsuccessful. I'll try again.

If you have position gradient maps baked out, then you could pick one of the smart masks such as 'ground dirt' and adjust the settings to get the desired effect.
