The January 6th Committee Hearings

This Friday marks the 50th Anniversary of the infamous Watergate break-in & ensuing scandal that made Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward & Carl Bernstein famous and eventually lead to Richard Nixon's downfall.  But for all the criminal things Nixon did in the oval office, he never staged a coup attempt.  Even he had some scruples left.  Nixon understood the Constitution.  He understood his oath of office.  And while he tried to challenge it and failed, he was well-familiar with the Rule of Law because he was an attorney first and politician second.

I never thought I'd be saying this but compared to what we now know about Trump's fraud,  Nixon doesn't seem half bad.  The riveting testimony by Trump's conservative staff, legal counsel & family members paints a portrait of a desperate, unhinged man on the brink of losing his power.  I almost shudder to think what will be revealed to us next.  And this is only day 3 of the hearings...

Meanwhile, the Dept of Justice has just demanded the Jan 6th Committee hand over all their documents & transcripts immediately. I wonder what that could mean? 😮

Countdown to the eighth January 6th Committee Hearing tonight at 5:00 PM (PT), 8:00 PM (ET), 12:00 AM (GMT).  The wrap-up will focus on Trump's inaction during 187 minutes of rioting at the U.S. Capitol.  The live video will be carried by all major broadcast networks and cable news channels except Fox News.

In the meantime, here's a familiar ditty from the 60's TV show, "Gilligan's Island" called A Three Hour Tour.   Enjoy!

Day 7 of the hearings:  Another bombshell of witness testimonies leading up to Jan 6th and beyond.

Liz Cheney: "Trump defenders say Trump was manipulated by fringe extremists to push election fraud lies. Donald Trump is a 76 year old man, he is not an impressionable child."  [Some close to Trump might disagree.]

Details were revealed about the secret "unhinged" meeting in Yellow Oval between DJT,  attorney Sidney Powell, former national security adviser Michael Flynn and former Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne.  The meeting devolved into a profane shouting match when WH counsel & staff intervened.   [What the hell was Overstock owner, Patrick Byrne doing there?]

Trump's campaign official, Jason Miller, confirmed that Rudy Giuliani team's so-called "evidence of fraud was very thin and virtually nonexistent."

A former Twitter employee testified that the platform was being used to coordinate a violent attack on Jan 6th but could not convince Twitter decision makers to act.  "Had Trump not been POTUS, his account would have been banned immediately."

Former Oath Keepers-insider described it as a paramilitary militia group whose goal is to to overthrow the U.S. government.  Roger Stone recruited Oath Keepers for a Jan 6th take over.  In preparation, Oath Keepers and Proud Boys purchased additional weapons & explosives en route to Wash. D.C.

Since the last hearing, Trump contacted an unnamed Jan 6th Committee witness who has not testified.  Witness refused Trump's call and called their lawyer instead.  Matter has been referred to the DOJ for possible witness tampering.

Stay tuned for the 8th hearing.

News update.  An unscheduled hearing will commence tomorrow  “to present recently obtained evidence and receive new witness testimony.”

The surprise hearing, set for 1 p.m. ET on Capitol Hill, was announced Monday. It was not immediately clear what new evidence the committee planned to reveal nor did the panel identify who is scheduled to testify.

I'm guessing we may hear from Mo Brooks or Jeffrey Clark whose names came up several times in last week's hearings.

WOW!  Today's unscheduled 6th hearing did not disappoint.

No matter what Trump tweets on his "Truth Social" platform, Cassidy Hutchinson comes across as a hard-working loyal staffer and an extremely credible witness.  And her details about the events leading up to and occuring on Jan 6th are deeply disturbing.

That means probably a criminal investigation into those documents, and bad news for some people involved into this scheme. The ones entering the Capitol were so kind to post the proves on social media, but those working in the background may need a more in-depth investigation.

    I hope you're right.

The Justice Department must criminally prosecute Donald Trump. The rule of law requires it
