"all you have to do is open Windows Update and run it."

Well maybe! My experience is that my PC Bios was not set with TPM enabled- Upgrade not possible. It took me some time, and searching, (and intrepidation) to find that my BIOS refers to TPM as PTT, and once 'enabled' - all good. Well mostly.

Next hurdle was the Upgrade function still said "Not compatible" while the app to check compatibility said "Good to go!". It took several cold boots before Upgrade would give me v11.

Now v11 seems to be working faster than v10.  The apps I commonly used all seem to work- I only need to become accustomed to the Start screen interface.

Oh, my aging Dell Laptop- the CPU is not on the 'compatible' list- so Windows v10 it is.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

My 2014 laptop does not run Windows 11, even that I think that there is a workaround to the Windows 11 install refusals. But 2025 is still some time ahead and by then, I will probably have a new laptop. I will change first my 2011 hybrid car to a full electrical one. You see, I love sticking to my equipment for as long as they run fine.

Yep, sounds like me. Get the most out of my equipment. I haven't check if my laptop is compatible, but it's so old that I doubt that it will be.

I just built a new machine and decided on Win 10. It's familiar, rock solid and has everything I need. There's no reason for Win 11 as far as I'm concerned. Cosmetics don't interest me.

The hardware is 11 compatible, but I suspect I'm not going to upgrade until I have to for whatever reason. The upgrade is free and runs on the same license, all you have to do is open Windows Update and run it.

I got a new SSD for boot disk. Decided on W11, have not looked back. Works like a charm.

I have Win11 and everything **I** do works the same

Wife is still on Win10 and won't change until Win10 support stops

She uses an old Quicken for her checkbook, which I tested and know will not install on Win11... so we'll find out in 2025 if installing Win11 over Win10 will allow her old program to run

Not likely.

My wife has a Windows 7 laptop that is used exclusively for an old version of Quicken. It will run, but not properly, on Windows 10.

I think she has Quicken 2013 which does work for her on Win10... she has 2 years until Win10 support stops and she will have to make the decision to stay on Win10 with no more support or do the Win11 update

There's been a few post in the PS forum regarding scriptListener not working with Win 11. That would kill me, as I use that extensively. Possibly too many other little surprises with Win 11. Maybe get a new computer in a bit, then I'll see about Win 11.

I really dislike having up update the OS, especially since I have an older computer. That proverbial cans of worms.
