I'm a newbie to CS2 Illustrator and I need to install IT Franklin Gothic Demi. If it doesn't automatically come with my CS2 Illustrator, what do I do?

...what do I do?

If you're on a PC and have ANY of the following Microsoft products, a
truetype version is included with:

Access 97 SR2, Office 2000 Premium, Office 97 Small Business Edition
SR2, Office 97 SR1a, Office Professional Edition 2003, PhotoDraw 2000,
Picture It! 2000, Picture It! 2002, Picture It! 98, Publisher 2000,
Publisher 97, Publisher 98, Works 2002

Otherwise, you can always buy it.

It's available from Adobe and just about every other major font vendor.

By the way, that's ITC Franklin Gothic (not IT)

Gopal,

Your post has really nothing to do with Typography.

This is a description of this forum on the same page where you found this thread:

Typography

A place to talk about type, typography, and typesetting. Help each other identify typefaces. Get suggestions about what typefaces work well together. Offer opinions about spacing, justification, punctuation, and the like.

However, for more technical questions about installing fonts, or working with service bureaus, and things like that you might find more help in the ATM/Type forums. Or for questions about how specific applications work with type it might be better to post in the product forums. Go to: http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/index.html for the complete list.

For a faster and better answer, try posting in the InDesign forum or, even better, in the developer forums.

Has the PDF that Mister Phinney refers to been removed?!?

I'd bookmarked this page because I need to do a font audit for my college. Now I can't find the PDF.

I'm just going to attach a wee PDF so I can see where they appear in a post. That might solve my problem but if anybody has Mr. Phinney's PDF, could they repost it?

I see where it says attachments now and this is nowhere to be seen in the original post. Does anybody have that list (preferably as a .csv/.xls but I'll cope with any format)?

Wow. Thanks a million Tom. That's going to be super useful. Short of the actual, official word from Adobe that's probably the best response I could hope for. Ta.

Unfortunately Thomas no longer works at Adobe. I don't know if his replacement (if there was one) is going to be visiting this section as often as Thomas did.

Adobe has not hired a replacement for Tom, very unfortunately. He is greatly missed by his colleagues at Adobe.

I suspect that he will continue to visit here every so often.

Hmmm. I suspect the switch to the new forums platform wiped out the old file attachments. Dov, you might want to ping John Cornicello to see if those can be easily retrieved. If not, contact Paul Hunt, who has my old laptop... ask him to check the "bundles" directory for any old lists I might have kept.

Cheers,

Hi Paul,

Thanks a million for uploading the definitive CS2 font list. Much obliged.

In my research on the origin of fonts across most standard installations I found this very comprehensive list. This comes courtesy of Richard Rutter of 24ways.org too.
