Do you have Firefox configured to launch to a specific page when Firefox is opened?  If so, it's possible something on that page requires Flash Player and the page content is configured to notify the user the content requires Flash.  However, now that Flash Player has reached end-of-life, it's possible instead of prompting the user to download Flash, the prompt is redirecting to the end-of-life help page. ... For completeness:   Adobe announced Flash Player's end-of-life in July 2017 giving content creators, programmers, developers, IT experts, etc over 3 years remove Flash Player dependencies from their products. It's possible you're using the wrong file for your operating system.  There are 2 uninstaller files posted at https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html.  One is for mac OS 10.6 and newer.  The other is for OSX 10.4 & 10.5.  I have macOS 10.14.  The uninstaller for macOS 10.6 and newer works just fine.  The other one returns the same error your getting.  Please ensure you have downloaded the correct file for your OS version. ... The icon displays because some program requires Flash Player and that program can't find Flash Player so it's displaying an info dialog on the desktop.  Smilebox has been identified as one such program.  Deleting/uninstalling Smilebox may resolve the issue, assuming no other programs that require Flash Player are installed on the system. ...
