The creative cloud application checks for update once a day hence you may not see the update right away. If you want to force the check for an update early please logout and log back into the Creative Cloud application. If you want to force the check for an update early please logout and log back into the Creative Cloud application. All new files created with this build will not be slow to open / edit. The files that have already been created earlier using Illustrator version 19.0 would still continue to open slow. Here is the workaround for such files Apply the patch 19.0.1 Open the file that is exhibiting slowness (it will still continue to open slow) Once the file is open please unlock all layers/objects and do a Select All followed by Copy Create a new document Remember to use the Paste Remember Layer in the Layer’s panel Paste the content You should now see all the objects and layers from your previous file Save this new file and continue to work This new file should not exhibit the slowness as earlier. Do you have any other CC 2015 application on the same machine. e.g. Photoshop CC 2015? is the issue there as well. Just wanted to make sure if we are talking about an Illustrator issue or a Creative Cloud application issue.

Hi, We are investigating the case. Unfortunately we do not have a fix at this moment. Illustrator vector graphics rendering pipeline is a little slow drawing on this extremely high resolution. As people have noticed lowering the resolution speeds up things. The fix will take some time as it requires re-architecture of our rendering engine. Thank you for your patience. The Ai team is experimenting with faster rendering using the GPU. If you would like to try this prototype (under NDA) and give your feedback to the team, do fill up this form. Offcourse you are not wasting your time here, if someone has a solution or a workaround you will get to hear fro other users. However answer to why has Adobe not responded or when will it be fixed will come only when you speak to representatives mentioned at the page that you do not want to use. I have also received replies when I had sent email to ShareWithAI@adobe.com you may want to try that. Make sure you write to them from the same email address that you used to purchase Adobe creative cloud lisence. OR have CS6 serial number of you are on perpetual lisence.

Have you guys tried a reinstall? I have 8.1 on my machine as well and things are smooth. While upgrading 8.1 there was a question from Microsoft if I wanted to keep my application and settings, did you select that? Uninstall and reinstall works in most cases you should first try out that.

Story for me has been Illustrator CS6 performs faster than CS5 in many areas and at places where I do not see performance benifits it stil performs as good as AI CS5. @Yogesh: I would be interested in knowing how many have already written to you asking you to investigate slowness of CS6 as compared to CS5. My guess it will only be a handful as AI users that I talk to are happy with CS6. the hiDPI update that you pushed out last time makes AI look amazing modern.

if you have saved it with PDF flag on you should be able to place the ai file into a new illustrator document and then save it. you will find effects and all expanded but this has helped me get back the content and visual appearance back.

Hi Kirk, You are right Illustraor is still not a full fleged multi threaded application but drop shadow is observed to be muc faster in CS6 compared to CS5 What are the CS5 numbers for the same operation? you can try the folowing and see if you can see the improvement: Create a new file in CS6(do not open a file with legacy blur) and see if you see an improvement. Opening a legacy file(cs5 and below) retains legacy blur(used by drop shadow) and is hence slower compared to a new file created in Cs6

you may not have to close out all the panels. with some hit and trial you should be able to isolate the panel that is causing trouble to you and then ask the forum if others are seeing it too. As lot of other users on the thread I am not facing any performance issues.

@amco: create a new user account and run Ai after logging into it. does it work. At times we think our machines are clean but softwares do get installed on our machines e.g unknown ones like device drivers or known ones like MS office. One thing is however certain Adobe enginers did not enocounter this before they shipped it.
