Prior to concerning yourself with the mechanics of preparing the logo, it would prudent to consider the constraints of logo design, one of which is limited size. The fragment of the illustration peeking out from the green panel suggests that making a selection of the currently hidden image would be the primary challenge. I suggest that, in order to preserve the element you have hidden, the Blend if command with a blank layer below the image. Once cleared, it can be filled with your chosen flat color. I worked on the assumption that precise color was not as important as image detail and based upon that, I chose the more difficult image and this was the procedure. 1.  Duplicate layer of the Background layer 2.  Image > Adjustments > Black & White, set to Preset: High Contrast Red Filter 3.  Add blank layer below 4. Return to Background dupe layer. Layer Styles: Blend if  to put the Green type (actually black) on a transparent layer 5. Deleted unwanted area (rectangular marquee tool) 6. The original image showed evidence of a color balance problem, blown out highlights and considerable chromatic aberration. The method shown below adjusts the color balance first, then addresses the highlight problem. No attempt was made to deal with the chromatic aberrtation. 1. Add a duplicate layer 2. Use Curves and its middle eyedropper (chose the vertical gray cement column on the far right) to correct the overall blue cast. 3. Quick selection tool to select the super highlight sides of the faces that have a Lab L value of 99% and even 100%. 4. Place the selection on separate layer 5. Since the concept of bleed allowance may be new to you, there is an additional bit of advice I would like to offer. When dealing with bound books and booklets, bleed allowance is provided at the head, foot and the side of the page opposite the spine. I believe much can be accomplished by first going to Lab Color. Then: 1.  Make a duplicate layer. 2.  Choose Channels and drag the  a  channel down to create a copy of the  a   channel 3.  Use Curves to increase contrast and follow with easy brush work. It will produce what will be the mask. 4. Drag the mask (a copy) down to the Load Channel as Selection symbol 5. Choose the Layers panel and click on the Mask symbol. It will place the mask alongside the copy of the background layer 6. Return to the Channels panel and adjust the  a   and   b  curves as shown below:  horizontal midpoint flat curve to produce a neutral gray without affecting modeling. 7. Also, bend the L curve to increase contrast (by making the quarter tones lighter). 7. You  may want to give this a try. Note that image contrast is controlled most by the layer. Choose a blue from the diamond plate file. Choose another if you prefer or adjust the Saturation of the chosen color. As shown in the Layers panel below, Edit > Fill with the Foreground color and its blending mode set to Color. I couldn't leave this alone. Using the Magic Wand and Options bar set to a 3x3 average, tolerance of 12 and noncontiguous I found six plateaus. The Layers panel shows the masks produced. Assuming: the files are jpg and after processing they are to be saved as psd files file size and memory  can accommodate the method Photoshop is running … the following works on a Mac and may very well work on your pc 1. Go to the subdirectory listing many image files 2. Choose the first one, then hold down the Shift key and click on the tenth one, for example.  All those will be chosen. 3. Right click in the chosen file area and choose Open from the drop down menu. All those files will open in Photoshop 4. Edit. A multi layer correction of a file 5. Cmd+S twice followed by Cmd+W. File will be saved in the same directory as a psd and closed. 6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 each of the open files.
