Hi All,   This was a maiden attempt to add an index in a FM2019 book. I got through all the steps to completion, all except one.   I have used Arial Narrow font for the Index Level1IX and Level2IX styles, which looks great. However, the page number text remains stubbornly stuck at Times New Roman 12 points. See the screenshot:   In case of the TOC, the page number text adopts the same font as one specified in the paragraph style, so why not the Index? Hi All,   Requesting a solution for a query that has been discussed earlier, but I am not able to fully understand the replies.   I have a book in FM 2019 with around 100 documents. Each document has a table, whose Table Title should be the same as the Document Title. Does a variable exist that has only the document title without the .fm extension? For example, I have a document called Oil Pump.fm that has a table that should have the same name, but without the .fm extension. I have tried to use <$chaptertitlename> or <$filename> variable but the inserted text is always "Oil Pump.fm" and not the desired "Oil Pump." Is it possible to create a variable that uses the file/document name without adding the .fm extension? If I can't have a variable free of the .fm extension, is there a method of 'Find and Replace' that will replace the "Oil Pump.fm" text in the Table Title with just "Oil Pump"?   Thanks in advance for your help.   Regards Apurva ... Hi All, Does Framemaker allow 'find and change' of paragraph tags at a book level? For example, can I replace 'Heading1' with a different paragraph tag like 'Heading 1 with indent', throughout the book? The Find/Change menu,  in the drop-down menu under 'Find' section, allows selection of Paragraph Tag along with a text line where one can specify the Tag. However in the 'Change' section of the Find/Change menu, one cannot find a similar drop-down selection for the new Paragraph Tag. So how are paragraph tags changed throughout the book? Hi All, I need to make a table that has 2, 3, or 4 columns - in the same table. The workflow that I currently follow: Create a table with 4 columns. When required, straddle the columns to reduce the numbers of columns to 2 or 3. The problem is with unequal column spacing when odd number of columns is required. Is there another way to create tables in Framemaker with greater flexibility? For example., please find below a table in MS Word that has equal widths for 2, 3, or 4 columns and a similar table in Framemaker that has unequal width for 3 columns, as the only option I have is to straddle the widths. Hi All, We are proposing to write a technical document in Hindi using Framemaker. The customer insists that all text, including the numbers, should be in Devanagari, which is the font set used for Hindi and several other Indian languages. The Hindi numbers are similar to the English numbers (0,1,2,3 etc.) except that they use the Devanagari script: Devanagari numeral - Wiktionary For the regular paragraphs, we are able to copy/paste Hindi text from Notepad or Word into Framemaker and apply a paragraph style. The sample document has a chapter number of 1 (Format > Document > Numbering > Chapter > Chapter #). Aim: To implement Hindi numbers in Headings1, Heading 2 , Heading 3 etc. paragraph styles: (expected results in English: 1., 1.1., 1.1.1, etc.) Go to Font tab in the Paragraph Designer. Change the font to a Devanagari font such as Adobe Devanagari, Mangal, or Noto Sans Devanagari. Select the Autonumber Paragraphs checkbox in the Numbering tab of the Paragraph Designer. Add the string in the Paragraph Designer> Numbering>Format. Where A: in the string is the unique numbering series to avoid mixing-up the number incrementing. The above Hindi paragraph style with only numbers works for correctly and we get the expected paragraph numbers like: १., १.१., १.१.१. when we apply Heading 1, Heading 2 and Heading 3. Aim: To implement English text + numbers using autonumbers in a paragraph style. This workflow is for reference only. We use a paragraph style called Figure Number. When applied in English, the Figure Number paragraph style inserts text ‘Figure - 1.1:’ below the image. Add the string in the Paragraph Designer>Numbering>Format. Where B: in the string is the unique numbering series to avoid mixing-up the number incrementing. When used, the Figure Number paragraph style correctly shows “Figure - 1.1:” text at the insertion point (usually below an image). Hi All, I am pitching to write a bilingual manual (English + Hindi) and would like to use Framemaker. The sample pdf of an earlier job shows that the English and Hindi pages are located back to back and their page numbers are identical. I believe that the sample is made in MS Word, which I would like to avoid in favour of Framemaker. Does Framemaker have a method by which subsequent pages will have the same numbers? Instead of using the page number variable, can we have even pages follow a certain number series and the odd pages follow a different number series? Regards Apurva ... View more
