Hi, I have my source in RH 2017 and I am using few images. They show up correctly referenced in the source file. I am observing a strange issue. When I generate the output the images go missing from my output. I then reinsert them and try retaking the output. They are showing up correctly. If I open the last saved source again tomorrow and generate a doc output then the images disappear again. The image location in the project folder or the image themselves haven't changed. Why would this happen? Any pointers to resolve it?

There would be some file in the Responsive html 5 output that serves the same purpose as the cshdat_webhelp.htm file from Web help right? The one that would hold the mapids etc. Does anyone know which is that file? Does responsive html5 output not generate any such file?

Hi, In the Web Help world when we generated the output, in the folder there was a file named cshdat_webhelp.htm. Does anyone know what was the significance of this file? Also, what is the parallel for this file in Responsive HTML5 world? We are facing a scenario where the jenkins build fails when it picks up the responsive html5 help output. The jenkins job searches for the file cshdat_webhelp.htm in the Responsive HTML5 output folder. As it is not able to find the file, the build fails. Any pointers? .............. -Tejas

RH 2019 enhances the Responsive HTML5 outputs from RH 2017. It also enhances the web help output in RH 2019 from RH 2017. Web help output in RH 2019 also makes it possible to now customize it. The question in that case is that, if moving to RH 2019 what is better for an online help? Responsive HTML5 or the good old Web Help? Which one has greater and better advantages and controls if one has to make a decision to pick one of the online help output in RH 2019.

I have a printed documentation from RH 2017 where the sections have tables that flow into multiple pages. Some tables are appearing properly some tables if they end at the start of the page the next section starts on the next page. I want it to be continuous. I have unchecked the option start section on new page when generating the printed documentation output. Also, I have a snippet at the end of each table that says Back to chapter 1, with a hyperlink to chapter 1. would the snippet be causing these breaks? Any idea how to fix this?

Hi All, Earlier with webhelp output in rh2017 there was an issue with the toc not expanding and collapsing. The fix was updating this string: sText = sText.replace("\n", ""); to sText = sText.replace(/\n/g, ""); in the whthost.js file. I tried that but the issue still persists. Chrome latest version now is 70. Is there any other fix to be done to get the toc expand and collapse in a webhelp output?

We have a Responsive HTML5 project. When we generate the output and check-in the files in the respository there are a lot of unknown files that are generated with the output for example here are a few: Responsive HTML5/whxdata/searchAuto_Model_11.js /Responsive HTML5/whxdata/searchAuto_Model_12.js Responsive HTML5/whxdata/searchAuto_Model_13.js /Responsive HTML5/whxdata/searchAuto_Model_2.js Responsive HTML5/whxdata/searchAuto_Model_3.js Responsive HTML5/whxdata/package_55_xml.js Responsive HTML5/whxdata/package_56_xml.js Responsive HTML5/whxdata/package_57_xml.js Responsive HTML5/whxdata/package_58_xml.js Responsive HTML5/whxdata/package_59_xml.js Responsive HTML5/whxdata/package_5_xml.js Responsive HTML5/whxdata/package_60_xml.js Any idea is this normal? What are these files and why do they get generated even when content changes are minimal.

i have a MS HTML help output and a printed documentation. Each have their respective ToCs. In the ToC I can manually move the topics up and down. I have many topics so wanted to know if we can sort them by any means? If nothing then manual is the only option.

I have around 50 snippets with few lines of text in it. As part of the branding, we are changing the font style and size. How can I define a style and apply to all snippets? When I edit a snippet and define a style it gets applied to only the selected snippet. I want to apply it to all. I am not able to apply a style defined in the master page to the snippet. Any pointers?

I have about 50 tables in MS Excel. Each table has 20 rows and 4 columns approximately. For single-sourcing it makes sense to use RH as this information will be available in the help output. How safe and recommended is it to copy-paste from MS Excel 2016 directly to RH topic? I can manually apply the table style to the copied and pasted table. But will it create any problems in the output or any other known issue with this approach?

I have few long tables with 4 columns. The first column is the most crucial. It holds some entries/terms. When the table was created the rows were entered randomly as data came in. It will make sense to sort it alphabetically. IN RH is it possible to sort based on a column like MS word?

A few months back, I had a query regarding the character #t in the Responsive HTML5 URL. This is the expected behavior is what I understand. In the same context, I had a somewhat similar query today. When the URL picks up file from a sub-folder, it adds %2F in the URL in addition to #t. Is that an expected behavior? See screenshot below: The development team was finding it tough to launch the context-sensitive help with this so they were checking if this is expected or can it be changed from RoboHelp? The second question is, are the file names context-sensitive in Responsive HTML5? If the help file is About_Product.htm and the code refers to it as about_product.htm, will it break the call? Any pointers or information to handle context-sensitive help calls with this URL would be helpful if you can share.

I mean the way they had Ocean layout, where search was the main entry point or the buckets/categories...but no ToC on the left. I thought if Adobe deprecated Ocean from 2017 perhaps they fixed the issues to make a re-entry in 2019? So wanted to know.

Is there a frameless layout similar to Ocean (that is deprecated in RH 2017) in the next version of RH, which is RH2019? Something that suits a help center than the traditional online help.

Hello, In RH 2017, we have 4 layouts that are shipped as part of the product - Azure Blue, Charcoal Grey, Indigo, and Ocean. Are there any additional layouts available anywhere/downloadable? How easy/complex is it to customize Indigo and Ocean layouts? Our requirement is to go frameless but customization should be easy for the documentation folks to do. Any Dos and Don'ts/best practices/known issues when customizing layouts?

Hi, We have a scenario where we have a Windows server on which we have the help hosted on Apache Tomcat web server. This Windows machine is a dedicated help hosting server. Technical publications team can generate the help output manually and copy and paste the output folder to the help hosting server by doing a remote desktop connection. This however is error-prone and not the best way. Can someone throw some light on how the Publishing options FTP and/or HTTP would work?

Hi Peter, Willam van Weelden, Captiv8r, or anyone who would have suggestion to this complex scenario: We are working on a PoC where the product is installed on server A and the help is hosted on server B. Product calls the help via an URL: https://ipaddress_server_B/help1.0/index.htm. Server B has MS IIS configured that hosts the Responsive HTML5 help output. The complex scenario is that for v1.0, we have a set of users who will see all content and a set of users who will not see all the content. So when both the set of users access: https://ipaddress_server_B/help1.0/index.htm how can we ensure that they see what they are authorized to see? We have only one output and one URL that the users will access. By applying conditional text we can either hide or show the content in the entire output, but is it possible to filter by using tags in the URL? For example, I can apply tag1 and tag2 to different parts of the content. In that case, can we pull the relevant content by filtering in the URL. For example: https://ipaddress_server_B/help1.0?tag=tag1/index.htm Any ideas/suggestion? Sorry, for this complex scenario.

That would call for editing the index.htm file each time there is a new build. I tried renaming the index.htm so a better name something like My_Product_Online_Help.htm and generating the output. My_Product_Online_Help shows up in the title bar of the browser and that I guess will suffice. I can get rid of the title bar text in the settings under general tab. In case there is a better workaround, let me know.

No, the text we want is already part of the header image. So the title text that shows up/overlaps is extra and not needed.
