The webkit-perspective removal does fix the problem for me, as well, and I'm not seeing any adverse effects in anything else. This is a great place for developers to start, has anyone reported this bug to them yet?

Surbhi_Maheshwari​ how would that work in my situation, though? We provide responsive help as a download, not as a web service (at this time). We have some customers who don't have access to the internet, simply an intranet. So the help would load with none of the icons I need in that circumstance when it's done as just a css link to the online font-awesome. It sonunds like, based on your comments, that you only support font-awesome using the font-awesome hosted method, not the self-hosting method or actually including it in the project itself. And when clients don't have access to an internet connection, that's not a method I can use.

I always copy text to notepad first, then copy from there and put it in robohelp. The crazy styles added to word formatted stuff is just too much for me to handle, and it's way easier to just throw it in notepad and copy again.

NickShears​ I am now using the new version of RH 2019 (not classic) and I used font-awesome icons in my skin I just finished making. It was an interesting process, and not near as easy as I thought it would be, because the skins are essentially re-purposed responsive skins from prior versions of robohelp, but it did work better! I used svg source files from wikimedia commons for font awesome, downloaded them and added them to appropriate folders and things essentially worked. I ran into a few road blocks, and a few icons didn't scale the way they should have, but I used inkscape to just change the canvas size down to where I needed it in those situations (maybe 4 icons). I reported some interesting bugs based on my skin creating adventure, too! lol In the end, I have a really nice looking skin based on the charcoal gray skin included with robohelp.

I'm not sure it would. I'm using 2019 now, and the problem still exists in the new skin, and the topic.slp isn't in the same place these days. I'm thinking it's in one the scripts for loading the template and how it chunks the data. It doesn't seem to take screen size/resolution into effect when it splits it up. I'm going to have one of the developers with the large screens take a look at the scripts and see if he sees any obvious solutions, then i'll report it to the bug group...

This is an FYI post because upgrading your version of IE to 11.0.110 will fix the issue. Adding it here so the answer is available for anyone receiving complaints! I did not report it as a bug because it's not Adobe's bug and is fixed in a newer version of IE. Stats: Using RH 2019 (not classic). This does not happen in outputs from similar projects in RH 2017. I did not try classic 2019. Responsive output. Have tried in both the Azure_Blue and Charcoal_Gray outputs and the same thing happens, it's not layout-specific as far as I can tell. Table of Contents (TOC) must have books that are not linked to topics but do contain topics. Topic must have breadcrumbs somewhere in the topic. Only happens in Internet Explorer 11.0.105 and before. Fixed in IE 11.0.110. Description of error: Open output in Internet Explorer. Use the TOC to browse to a topic that is first*** in the list of topics below a book with no linked topic. In that topic, click the link to the folder that your topic is in. This will result in one of two errors: If the project is housed on web site or intranet, "403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied." If opening from Windows File Explorer you see the directory tree for the folder. ***Note that the error doesn't occur if you click the second (or lower) link in a folder but instead produces the desired behavior, which is to open the first link in the folder. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2KrdIoYLujU" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Desired (and previous) behavior: Clicking the breadcrumb link to the containing folder opens the first link in the folder. I know that svn isn't supported yet. All of the marketing materials said svn would work, and the videos all say svn is supported, so we bought it only to find out that they're still working on it. Unfortunately, still working on it isn't an answer I can use right now, as my developers only use svn and I have to get this newly upgraded project to fit into the svn model now, not when three more service packs are released. So, with that in mind, has anyone had any success using svn with the new RH 2019 format? I'm contemplating just putting the project into source control, and using tortoise to do the svn update before I update, manually check out files in tortoisesvn when I need to edit things. I have one user, though, who is very wary of svn and is easily frustrated by it, so I'm not sure that's a plan of action I'm ready to take. I was hoping someone figured out how to hammer it in to svn with Edit>Preferences or something along those lines... any thoughts, suggestions, or war stories to share?

Does anyone have a demo or some screenshots of what responsive help looks/acts like in SharePoint? Specifically RH2017 or greater with SharePoint 2016 or greater? I don't have a test environment that I can set all of this up in, and we're considering SharePoint over RH Server (for various reasons, not the least being that we can use the SharePoint and SQL Server licenses for other things besides just RH). I'd still like to see what it actually looks like and hear about how context sensitive help works in SharePoint Published environments! Thanks in advance! Tia

I have a pretty customized version of the charcoal gray responsive layout. Everything is (now) working fairly well, but for one odd corner case. It may not be a huge issue, but we have a couple of users with very large screens, and when you open the help on those screens, the index does not take up all of the available space or produce a scroll bar. Here's a normal view, after loading and scrolling a bit to show that yes, there's plenty of stuff in the index: Now, when the user with the huge monitor (think 40") loads the index in the same browser (chrome v. 62.0.3202.94), it looks like this: See all of that empty space on the bottom? Now, I can replicate this on my machine by making the magnification level very small: So, I looked for a max-height in the css, there is none, and adding one, no matter what I set it to (I tried 50,000 em!), it actually makes the problem worse. If anyone has any ideas, I'm willing to try! I haven't tried in a non-customized version of the layout, but may later... but I don't think I changed anything that would have any effect on this. This only happens in the desktop view, and changing to mobile, viewing the index, then changing back to desktop fixed it on the large monitor, but not on my magnified replication.

@Jeff_Coatsworth, I am patched at RH2017r2. Rebuilt the layout after the patch. Also, the code for the breadcrumbs is part of the .htt file, not the layout.

I have made a wonderful custom version of the charcoal output. QA noticed that the "Home" link in the breadcrumbs does not display in IE, but does in all other browsers. It's the same exact help file, it should work the same in both! This is IE: This is chrome: Any ideas?

It was already set, yes. Problem is the .png images exported from that site look pretty crappy when you scale them. I basically export them for every size I need them in because taking the 256x256 and telling robohelp to make it 100x100 results in an awful looking image.

I do really like them, and I did submit an official feature request to make it work [properly]. I ended up giving up today because every time I generated something would break. Robohelp has issues with using these as baggage files, and with having hyphens in the names of the css files, and with using more than one css file in a topic. While I can make it work, because of the way we do things around here, I don't do the final generation, a developer does, and it's just too much to expect him to copy the css file into the output directory every time RoboHelp ignores it on output, or to deal with it freezing on "preparing files for responsive html5 output" when it it does that but the references are still there. I ended up finding this: Convert Icon Fonts To PNG - fa2png.io . That tool lets you generate a png file of any of the font-awesome fonts. While they won't be responsive, at least I can use the same icons that the developers are using in the product, and people will be somewhat happy, I hope.

You can use them in the TOC and other places as well, but I've had so much trouble just getting them to work in topics that I'm not going to push my luck. RoboHelp really really wants it gone. It really does push it out. I had to drop the css files in manually in that last build because it ignored them in the output. RoboHelp really only wants one CSS file, period.

Font-awesome is a third party font/icon set that is free, consistent, and fairly easy to use (except in robohelp). A lot of developers are starting to use it for their UI builds. Facebook uses these icons in their mobile app! Here's their site: Font Awesome, the iconic font and CSS toolkit!

I keep remembering things... it's taken me 2 days to get this to work! LOL RoboHelp doesn't really like hyphens in the CSS references. You might need to perform a bit of renaming shenanigans... like font-awesome.css to fontawesome.css. You'll also need to make sure the paths in the two font-awesome CSS files that point to the font files are all correct. Take out the ../fonts/ in front of the paths.

It also sometimes removes the CSS files for font-awesome from the baggage registry. Sometimes I'll run the output and it won't have any of the fonts. I just have to re-ad the CSS files as baggage and that seems to fix it for a while.

I have been formatting them that way, I just said <i> for brevity. I'm using the code exactly as written in the help on the font-awesome site. If I hide them in <div> tags they'll stay for a while. It I even try to edit in the wysiwyg or the html editor, robohelp either dies or removes the tags (sometimes both). Still, it works, as long as I remember to edit the topic in notepad++ instead of the editor.

I have managed to get font-awesome to work in RoboHelp, but you have to do a few odd things. I am using RoboHelp 2017, so steps based on that. After downloading font-awesome, copy all of the files in the css and the fonts folder, then use Window Explorer to place them in your Project Files folder. Open RoboHelp, then import the files as baggage. Add the following to your Master Page in the <head></head> section using the html editor: <link rel="StyleSheet" href="font-awesome.css" type="text/css" /> <link rel="StyleSheet" href="font-awesome.min.css" type="text/css" /> Here's where the fun comes in. RoboHelp pretty much hates font-awesome. It will randomly delete all of the <i> tags in your html just for fun. I would keep a folder somewhere outside of the project with the html backed up if you aren't using source control. I also don't recommend using the HTML editor in RoboHelp to insert the <i> tags. Do it in Notepad or Notepad++. RoboHelp crashes a lot if you try to do it in the editor. I have had some luck hiding the <i> tags from RoboHelp by surrounding them in <div> tags. That also helps with layout, anyway, so win/win. But eventually RoboHelp will find the tags and delete them, and you'll be sad if you don't have them backed up. Good luck!
