If you have this slowdown in 12.0, please first check the Performance tab in the preferences dialog and see if Basic or Full GPU acceleration is enabled in 12. Support for OpenGL is deprecated in 12.0. In Camera Raw 12.0 the system requirements for GPU acceleration have changed. Specifically, OpenGL is no longer supported. Setting the popup to "off" disables both; the two check boxes appear when the popup is set to "Custom." It's possible a bug in the driver is causing an intermittent failure. I've now seen reports on this forum about the feature both working and not working on 700 series Nvidia GPUs. You can try the the following to clear Camera Raw's memory of a past GPU error and make it try again to use the GPU again. 1. Quit the applications (Bridge and Photoshop for Camera Raw, or Lightroom Classic). 2. Look in the following folder: %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw\GPU If you do not know how to find that folder, you can click the Windows icon, type in Run, hit enter, paste that path into the Run dialog box's text field and click OK. 3. Look for a sub folder with the name of the application not working: "Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw" in your case. If you see any files with names beginning "TempDisableGPU" delete them. (Or delete the whole subfolder.) 4. Then restart the application and see if you can use full acceleration again. You may want to check here for a new driver: Drivers | GeForce . We are working with the documentation team to update that page. Sorry for the confusion. As can see, this GPU is working for the older, "GPU for display" feature. That recommendation was written for older versions of Lightroom. I have not been able to test the GTX 760 myself, but the results you posted suggest that this generation of GPUs are not able to support GPU for image processing. Thank you for sending this. I can see that what happened is that an short test we run on the GPU during the initialization phase for this feature failed to produce the expected results, and that is why it is disabled. We run this test to try to predict if using the GPU will produce the right images or produce artifacts. Since it failed in this case, the feature is disabled so you don't see artifacts while editing photos. I see that the driver version listed is 23.21.13.8873. As community member davidg36166309 posted above, this is actually an old version of the driver for this GPU. If you can resolve those, you should be able to use the "basic" level of GPU acceleration (GPU for display) in Lightroom 8.4, just as in Lightroom Classic 8.3. I recommend trying to re-install the latest Nvidia driver for your GPU as the next step. I would have expected GPU accelerated display to work for you in 8.4 if it was working in 8.3. Do you still have 8.3 installed? Are you sure it still works in the older version, or does an error appear now in 8.3 as well? Please try it and let us know if you see an improvement. On a 4K display with a GTX 1050 Ti, I expect that you will see some improvement in this area. I expect that with 8.4 you may see more benefit show up more as you adjust the global or local adjustment sliders after you have added brush strokes, radial or linear gradient corrections than you see during brushing itself. In general, adding more local adjustments adds more compute work for Lr to do as you move the sliders, but using a GPU for some of the work should scale better than using the CPU alone as the number of adjustments increases. There are a few other caveats to be aware of. First, if your adjustments are not using the latest Process Version (PV5), full GPU acceleration does not kick in. The Auto Mask feature of the brush is still very CPU intensive and a known performance bottleneck; I recommend not using Auto Mask or using alternatives to Auto Mask such as Range Mask. Finally, moire reduction is not yet GPU accelerated 8.4. I don't know if your PC is a laptop or not, but I know the 1050Ti does come in a few laptop models. The power settings on laptops can have a big influence on performance.
